I am looking for some reviews from you on the make you use and if you have had any issues or not.
useful information would be how often and how long you have run the system.
What kw unit and how many pumps you are running.
Perhaps not many do have them but I would like to hear if you are or have used one.

I've got the purefreedom 9 kw diesel heater, cost well over 2 grand :'(. I have just bought 2 portable immersion heaters for 20 quid,( Smudger has put up a link for them on the ' heated system questions' thread currently on page 2) I suspend them in the tank overnight and hey presto, hot water in the morning.

There are a few cleaners on here who use diesel heaters. Archer has units supplied by Brodex (Hurricane) as he swears by them. You will find a similar question asked a while back if you do a search.
You will also find a few unhappy users as well.

Hi I've had two vans fitted with webasto heaters
Both 9.6 kW heaters
Down to one van now
Biggest issue is power easily overcome if the battery Is adequately wired in
Generally run all day
The burner can need replacing yearly about £350
Apart from that wouldn't be without

I not heard anyone go through burners so quick most say after cleaning they work fine.
Think they smoke when they need a clean!

9kw 2 man version fitted by Varitech.
Expensive but pleased with it. Has a frost stat that goes on automatically to stop the van freezing up in winter.
It has been reliable. Any issues have been sorted by Varitech over the 'phone.

I have the 9KW 2 man set up on my vans and as long as you sort your battery system out to withstand the on and off throughout the day
and don't let your diesel get too low, then everything works great.
I've said before it's a great add on, no changing gas bottles, ventilation, flues, insurance issues etc. IMO

How long have you had your system?
Did have a chat with them a couple of years back but life did not work out well at that time, things are a lot better now and new van warrants new equipment to stay with it all through as fed up of downtime on make shift systems.

Yes Spruce is correct in saying i really like them, got 3 of them and wouldnt be without them

so where does the exhaust fumes go then? are they not ventilated outside of the van?
no insurance issues with gas, I am insured with A plan and it was not a issue
why is changing a gas bottle an issue?
nothing wrong with a gas heated system, considering the price I still do not understand why people choose to go for a diesel set up when gas does a better job and for a fraction of the price

It is vented through the floor of the van , the hole is about the size of a watch face .

As already stated, small hole in floor.
There can be issues with insurance, as has been raised on the forum. Good for you it's not been an issue.
Didn't say changing gas bottles was an issue, just no changing gas bottles.
End of the day we all do what suits us, and we are all entitled to an opinion.

With LPG the naked flame is the issue and insurers do not like anything that sets a vehicle on fire.
If gas built up inside the van and you started her up it could go boom.
Caravans stick the bottle outside I wonder why?
A professional fitted lpg tank and system might remove this problem but not the flame.
Wonder though why the army fit webasto?
Perhaps diesel as it does not explode is a better option to the army.
