Title: Bought some of that wonderful flat hose...
Post by: H20cleaning on March 06, 2014, 01:36:19 pm
I know you all hate it but my hose will never touch the floor so should never get holes in (famous last words)  ;D

But were do i get them nozzles from for filling my tank with, they look like a petrol pump nozzle?

You'll need a 3/4" to hose tails converter as well.

No. It'll leak. But then the hose is going to look like a garden sprinkler soon so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Gardiners do a 25/32mm one. Someone, somewhere must do a 2 inch one but you're into expensive kit.

I had two inch hose on one inch fittings and it worked OK (but looked very silly, like a sausage tied at both ends). Then it started leaking so I threw it away and bought a proper hose...

Just predicting the future for you.

It also kinks at every chance it gets and hinder's the pumps performance it will kink when it goes into your tank and it will kink when it comes out of the holding tank and any corners in between.

I am going to run it through some guttering along my garage wall so its always kept straight, then im going to invent some kind of attachment i can out on the end for filling it without kinking

Why not just run some straight pipe through the guttering along the garage wall?  Why use something flexible inside some guttering so it stops being flexible?

I must be missing something here.  I thought you wanted flexibility. I promise I'm not having a go, I appear to be missing the point.

Vin

P.S. If you can stop it kinking, you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din.

No, flexibility isnt the issue the issue was originally i was using 1/2 inch hose so my 40ltr tank was taking 40mims to fill. This new stuff fills it in 10mins, my issue was i wanted some kindof nozzle on the end to sit into the tank hole instead of me holding it.

Running a hose through guttering on my garage wall was
Just an idea so the hose was never kinked and only part of it would need reeling in and out instead of the full 10m

I see.

If it helps, what I had was some 32MM PVC pipe of the type I recommended then a pair of geka connectors (http://www.easywatering.co.uk/acatalog/Geka.html)  to a length of layflat with the nozzle on the other end.  Nozzle and layflat used to reach from end of PVC hose to van for flexibility.  It meant the PVC hose didn't need to be moved.  Nozzle and layflat could be kept inside out of trouble.

Good idea but (I may have mentioned this) the layflat leaked.  All the time.

And it kinks.  All the time.  Everywhere.

Good luck.
