can anyone help me please. I have just heard about micro splitters and they seem too good to be true. Until now I have always used detergent coupled with HWE equipment and have always cleaned well. However we have some cowboys around here (Kings Lynn Norfolk) who are undercutting everyone and I mean seriously undercutting.
So I need an edge to try and get some more custom. I thought solutions alergen coupled with an ad saying how good etc and kill the bugs at same time.
Are Micro splitters as good as they sound.
Also what is the best way to pre spray, and I believe the solution needs to be agitated to activate it. Is there a good mechanical one on the market or is it down to old fashion scrubbing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks Tom,
however I only have portable HWE.
I couldnt find that host, on e-bay.
I actually need to find out everything about micro splitters how to apply, agitate. I assume then you just extract, but do you put the m/splitter in the rinse.
-
Hi Mike,
Microsplitters are applied by prespray, then you need loads of aggitation, then extract with water only.
Craftex are doing a special offer until the end of the month
have a look at www.cleansmartsupplies.co.uk ask for Matt he's really helpful

most micro splitters are similar and do need lots of aggitation . solutions no 2 and amtechs one step spring to mind. get yourslef some m/s spotters as well. i still rinse with fibre and fabric a tiny amount in the tank to condition the carpet when using m/s. m/s is where the future is as people do not want harsh chemicals once educated. have a word with chris straker who is part of allerg-stop www.strakercleaning.co.uk/

A good agitation machine that is reasonably priced is the Sebo Duo. It will set you back about 180 ish quid. This machine is ideal for using M/s's in a residential environment. For commercial areas we use a carpet cleaning brush on a slow speed rotary machine. That works well but use solutions number 9 for greasy carpets.

Mike,
There are lots of MS topics.
Basically MS are sodium tripolyphosphate , Amtech,Solution,Craftex and now Prochem with Pureclean sell them.
The Prochem product will work out cheapest because it's in solid form.
In a cleaning powder the detergent will wet out the fibre and the phosphates will shear the dirt.
With MS there is no detergent so you need to agitate well as they will not wet out in the same way. This is also the reason for no dwell time as without agitation the phosphate will just sit there until the water evapourates.
Do not be fooled by all the marketing hype .
Allergstop is phosphate plus an enzyme so can't be called a microsplitter as these are enzyme free.
Enviromental drawback of phosphates is the damage they cause to aquatic life.
Chemspec have just brought out a product which is detergent and phosphate free , based on common salt.DFC210 and 105
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I heard a story (not a fishy one) that a goldfish had been placed in a tank of one particular brand of microsplitter and swam around quite happily ::)
I suppose seeing is believing and I haven't seen it
-
I got a free sample of the chemspec DFC210 and 105 at the show last week. I havent tried them yet cause I wasnt sure how to agitate or how much to pre spray I will have to do my own carpets again. The only trouble is her indoors wont pay the going rate. lol
Thanks everyone
Mike
P.S where could I get one of those sebo duo's

Haven’t heard that one! Gold fish are hardy creatures, they even like the run of the mill tap water, Koi on the other hand don’t. Is any one willing to put it to the test, I will supply the fish value appox £1500 each, you can have the pick of the litter barring four, jean/sue/gun head and Reg, sad I know wife named them, other have got names but not that sentimental!
Doug
A bit unfair (Do not be fooled by all the marketing hype) are we not selling to a customer. Once bitten twice shy! ;D

Mike,
Welcome
I am also in Kings Lynn and agree with you it has got price competitive this year.
I also sell blinds and that has also become a price competive market.
In Carpet Cleaning there appears to have been several start ups, and re starts.
For such a small town that is phenomial.
Supprisingly the area has a high number of companies in the NCCA compared with other districts..

Im also near Kings Lynn and have just started up,ive not got into the local directories for this year but with a bit of persistance and plugging away at leafleting and calling in on businesses im finding enough work to keep me going, although not a full week yet,i thought about trying the local papers but noticed there were several already in with the normal "wont be beaten on price" linage, good luck to them who want to compete on this basis but you wont find me there!
As ive said before on here it is commonly accepted that 80% of carpets never get cleaned, thats a lot of potential business if even 1% of that total could be "educated" into getting the job done.
With regards the local "cowboys"they will come and go as their equipment needs replacing etc and they havent earned the money by under pricing to replace or repair it, Andy
-
I'm also near Kings Lynn but tend to keep away from that area with advertising due to the amount of local carpet cleaners and the won't be beaten on price competition.
Can't say iv'e noticed your cowboys around Wisbech yet, best keep them your side of the water.
All the best Steven.
-
Have you ever tried riding a bike with a vax on your shoulder down the a47, i think that alone will stop them ;D
-
Steven,
The one that recond the Government had degreed that your Carpet Should be cleaned every six months was from Wisbech way.
The one who will not be beaten on price now has a Merc Van
Is the one who cleans suites for £35 looking in?
Andy I do not know if this is true but the more Carpet Cleaning Promotionalactivity there is is not a bad thing as it makes the 80% of people more aware of the posibility of having their carpets cleaned at some time.
-
Theres one in Downham doing them at £30, 3 bed house at £65, let them get on with it i reckon,t*****s ;D

Before setting up your hwe machine apply a decent spray to all the heavy stains. 15 minuets later when your ready to cleane, spray lightly the whole carpet, aggitate,Iuse a sebo as I do mainly domestic and rinse with just water.I use onestep finline which is very good on red wine stains.Any stains that do`nt shift I spay with ZAPIT,when I`ve come to the end of the room I then go back and aggitate those stains, works a treat every time.I know you`re supposed to clean straight away, but this really cuts down the scrubbing time.AMTECH UK are the only m.s that I`ve used,so you`ll have to test and compare with other brands, and let me know how you get on.
Hope this helps
