Title: Cleaning brand new carpet tiles

On Tuesday I have to do a recording studio which is due to open for business shortly.

The odd thing is that I'll be cleaning brand new tiles - the owners had them laid before any of the carpentry and building work was done. Not the wisest move!

So what I've got is brand new tiles that are covered in sawdust / plaster dust. Thorough vacuuming is obviously the first step, but then I'm wondering whether to do Texatherm or just do a single pass clean with HWE to flush all the dust out - there are no spots or stains.

Opinions appreciated :)

Dry vac, then fit a brush to your rotary then lightly scrub the carpet, then dry vac again. repeat this until you stop seeing an improvement.

Then a HWE if it needs it.

you will probably find that a thorough vacuming  does the trick  and thats all thats needed ! But if I was to use anything I would lightly prespray and bonnet over and thats it,
I personally would not go down the road of hwe I think it woukd be a bit over kill the fact the tiles are brand new and the soiling is purely topical

If you do bonnet it then make sure you have every morsel of plaster dust out.
Lightly wet plaster dust and you will make plaster, a bonnet will not remove it.

I had one of these once.

Looped polypropylene.

The sawdust (and small chips) got stuck in the loops. Nightmare, even with a pile lifter.

If you do bonnet it make sure that the person given the instruction approves that system. Some manufacturers aren't fans of bonnets on their tiles. You want to be sure you didn't make a decision that can void warranty.

I am new to the business,and this forum -  and a friend has given me the opportunity to quote for the job of cleaning an office space. Carpet tiles , 300 metre square , open plan no furniture. Two questions, what would be a reasonable rate to quote per metre square, and I only have a HWE  system - would it be suitable for the task, even tho' it would be time consuming.

6 hours  £525 thats what I would charge

It depends how much you want the job and how confident you are of being able to do it to the required standard. £1.50 would be about right.

Thanks for your replies, I have Airflex 600pro. The only visible marks are normal wear around desk and seat areas.
