Has anyone used the Klindex Weight kit and have any thoughts about them???
-
The Rocky is only a 1.5 hp motor, I wouldn't be adding too much more weight to it if I were you. I opted for the Samich Lotus with 4HP motor and ordered the weights for that to help with Grinding and polishing.
Hope this helps. :)

Thanks

I am sure it will grind, but as you say..."It will be OK for grinding"....OK being the operative word.
The Rocky and Samich Runner are really entry level machines with only a 1.5hp motor.
If you are serious about grinding, I would advise you to look at a 4hp motor
I have added the weights to my Samich Legend (Klindex Levighetor) and the 4hp motor could handle it with no problem.
Have you bought the Rocky?
Did you tell them you were intending to Grind with it?
Where do you live? I can bring a Legend and a Lotus to try if you like...then you will see how a 4hp motor differs from a 1.5hp.

Yes mate I have the rocky was told if you add the weight kit would be ok for grinding, finding out not the case, very frustrating when you are told this by the experts,

Sorry to hear that Kevin. I am not saying it will not grind, it probably will, but you would have been much better advised to look at and consider a 4hp motor.
I wonder if anyone would be interested in buying it on this forum if it is still "as new" condition and consider a more capable machine?
What do you grind?

I came across this Job while doing his carpets, marble floor throughout the ground floor the dinnig room is 210 square mts alone then the passageway which leads onto the swimming pool area,I do like the Rocky a well balanced machine, would like to do more hard floor but does not seem to be lots around for marble etc could be wrong, this house is a one off.

Maybe it's worth giving it a go with just the machine. If you are not grinding concrete for weeks on end and just refurbing a couple of hundred square metres I am sure it will be ok. What are you trying to achieve, lippage removal? What is the floor?
It will take time but with some patience, you will get there. I have done similar jobs with a 45kg machine, 1.5hp, but no extra weight.
If you are still serious about polishing and want to speed things up a little, consider a more powerful machine with weight, the Rocky is still there for cleaning jobs.

I think I remember someone saying that Kevin Martin is on holiday, but I am sure you will get some advice from Tony when he reads the thread. Can I assume that you bought the machine from Amir?
-
No I got second hand from Martin Shelly.was in mint condition as new.
-
Ahh, ok. Is Martin a Klindex dealer?
I still think it is worth giving it a go if thats all the grinding that you will be getting involved in.

Which Expert told you this then?

PS
To avoid any unsavoury replies from certain people, the Samich Lotus Equivalant in The Klindex range is called The Kroma
I assume now that now you have hijacked this thread to push Samich machines and start offering advice and opinions on KLINDEX MACHINES that you have used them all extensively have you and then done side by side comparisons with samich?
Or is it Tech Specs you are comparing out of catalogues?

How different this thread has become since you got back. Take a look at the advice, you will see how I have tried to advise him.

Do not want to mention names on an open Forum Kevin, All I want is advise ,the Rocky has the option to add weights and would it be woth investing in a set of the above, and what advantages would it give me.This started as a hobby for me and, if I do something I do it to the best I can, I do invest in equipment. The results on the floor MARBLE are not outstanding just trying to get it better that is why the question about the weights

Kevin
You can buy two additional weights for the Rocky which are 5 Kg each. I asked who it was that told you that you could grind with a Rocky because you said it was an expert and I was interested to know who because they are not experts. Why buy a pair of weights to add 10kg just put 10 litres of extra water in the tank it does the same and it's free.
Finally you can try and grind with any machine below 2.5HP ! Will it do a good job? Never in my humble opinion however others disagree with me all the time. You need several things to grind PROPERLEY Metal Diamonds, Speed and Torque anything else just nibbles away and either does SFA or takes hours to do a crap job.
If you need any more help Kevin ring me or e mail me as you normally do because my days of free advice for abuse are over!
