Title: nicotine on upvc
Post by: Dave Willis on February 20, 2014, 08:09:00 pm
Does it wash off? I have a conservatory inside to do that looks a little stained - what's best to clean it off?
No guesses please I want the real thing.

Honestly I wouldn't bother. You'll get it on your gear and be smelling it and feeling sticky for weeks afterwards. I took a similar job on once, never again.

Washes off with a cloth and water with plenty of washing up liquid in it.  You will end up throwing the cloth away, though, as it'll take on the smell.

If you're a non-smoker, best wear gloves as your hands will stink for a day or two.

I(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1392927823_IMG_1002.JPG)

I used to do some specialist cleaning back in the day.

TBH the best mixture i ever used was...........................

ecover lemon and pure water! Wet cloth and  dry cloth.

Wear latex gloves!

ALSO Virosol LOVES eating the nasty stuff as well :)

as said wear gloves .    nicotine in a watery mix will seep  into your skin like a knife thru butter ,feel ill afterwards

Sugar soap is supposed to be good, and use a big roll of paper towel ( and a gas mask ) !

TFR is good also.
Wear gloves though.

Perhaps the best advice (IMHO) whatever price you've thought of: double it and round it up.
It's a crappy minging job and you might aswell throw your scrims/cloths away after cleaning them.

Hi Dave, we have a natural cleaning/polishing paste which will remove any ingrained soils from upvc frames and its very safe and effective on nicotine stains (no gloves required) just use a damp microfiber cloth apply the paste to clean the frames and bring them back spotless, if its of benefit bang me an email and I will send you on the info, Regards Tadgh.

Quite easy really - I work for a living. So rather than sit on my arse for ten days a month, i tend to go out and provide for my family.

I've got 3 wives so can only afford one extreme. But the women do all have turkey necks.
