Yesterday I made a classic schoolboy error.
Re-filling my resin bottle, got all the old resin out, cleaned the vessel out etc.
Filled with nice new resin, all compacted down nice...
About to put the top back on...
Realised I'd forgot to put the riser tube back in! GRRR.
I managed to tunnel it in amongst the resin though after much patient spinning/ jiggling, so at least I didn't have to take it all back out again!
Note to self: in future put riser tube back in BEFORE you fill with resin!

Put water in and the riser goes in easily.
-
I always thought you fill with resin then push down on the tube which I found hard but that how the fella in the shop said to do it. 💪💪💪

put resin in
top up with water
then put riser in .
-
well the riser on mine has a fat filter bit at the bottom end, so it was difficult to push it in with the resin there.
like this:

But with some wiggling and twisting it worked in the end

I always put resin in first I think it will be a struggle to do it with riser in place, resin then water then riser makes it easier but I just push/screw it through the resin. I think they all risers have the flat filter on the bottom.

No need to force it.
Put the top onto the riser tube. Push the riser into the resin as far as you can. When it stops, blow into the "out" hole in the lid. It'll form a bubble of air in the resin. Push down. Repeat. It's effortless.

Riser tube in first. Block with sticky tape or similay. Upend a small traffic cone of similat (may have to saw top bit off for hole to fit around riser tube with gap). Tip in resin (slowly). Might be helpful to tip resin into something like a watering can before pouring it in so that you can tip it more controlled.

i fill up resin to about 4 inches from the top.then fill with water.then shove the riser tube in and screw it in tight.job done. ;) :)

out of interest, what do you do with your old resin?
I try hard to collect it for the bin.

Pour it into an old resin bag. Leave it outside for a day or two and the water will have drained off. Put it in the bin.

same for me but I zip tie the top then when all the water has gone I sell it to all the newbies in my town.
