Had trackers fitted to 2 of my vans yesterday but due to a small tech error they didn't go live straight away, so today I checked the app on my phone, and where was the very first location I found one of them..... at the chippy ;D
But joking aside has anyone else got them and do you find them useful?
I don't see them as a spy in the cab as my guys are all good lads.
I am hoping to use the trackers to try and see where my rounds can be tailored to cut down on vans crossing over and unnecessary mileage.
As my rounds are growing I seem to have lost touch with where they go on a day to day basis.

we are thinking of doing this too, may I ask what company you used and what the price was?
-
got them fitted a while ago. each client has a watch-box setup - at the end of the day you can see how long each job took. this allows to tailor the day to employees pace.
if customer says your guy did not knock or wasn't there you have instant evidence to prove otherwise.
lets you check progress of work on the day. etc
fuel usage dropped by 15% on average. mileage dropped as well for some reason ;D between jobs. more jobs are getting done on the day as well.

Hi Neil
Who did you use for your trackers please?
Thanks
Tom

I am using a company called RAMtracking http://www.ramtracking.com
I went for the purchase option instead of leasing
For 2 vans it was a little under £650 for the equipment and then £12 per van per month for the tracking, but as I own the equipment I can stop or start that at any time.

Sorry to nitpick but being able to prove to a customer that your van was outside their house is not 'instant evidence to prove he knocked their door'.

I have trackers. Also from RAM.
Paid for themselves within a month.

Thanks Neil :)

Buying is a bad idea. The hardware is not what you would call 'robust' or 'hard wearing'.
Leasing does cost more (only slightly btw) in the long run IF you don't have to replace the unit.
Big IF.
