I wonder how new window cleaners are getting on in the bad weather..? It must be tough for any who started up in the Summer / Autumn just gone - just trying to find their feet and all this bad weather comes along.
I would imagine quite a few will be wondering if it was a good move and whether they should move on to something else instead...

I would say that a lot of established guys will also be close to calling it a day
every year the weather seems to be getting worse for longer periods.
I also wonder when will customers start to ask themselves, is it worth paying for a window cleaner
when at the most they only stay clean for a couple of days.
I cleaned mine yesterday and they are filthy again today.

i feel great!and enjoying my day off!a bit of paperwork this morning and a few household chores.nipped to local supermarket for valentine card,booze and chocs for girlfriend.booked cinema tickets for friday night.put some cheques in the bank.
just had lunch.off to the gym for an hour soon.life is sweet! ;)
bills paid,money in the bank.
i love the window cleaning lifestyle!! 8)

I don't mind working in a bit of snow and ice, or a few days of rain... But this weather has been a bit of a nightmare... I've been working in it, but not full days.
Make hay while the sun shines I suppose!
I can't ever see a time when people stop using window cleaners altogether though.

The trick for all new starters is to be sensible with your money and understand that these days will happen Remember if you have a big day yesterday and don't work today that's your profit halfed if you don't work a third it's even worse ,
So don't rush to spend
you have to keep some money in backlog to allow for these days, always allocate a portion of your weekly profit for these sort of weeks , don't assume it's just the odd day here and there, you also have van repairs etc and system problems,

Been at this for just on 4 years ... never seen a massive increase in other window cleaners near me however Im sure the odd one or two have set up .... think a few have packed in recently as got a few walk ups saying old windie not been for ages .... maybe harsh but suits me ... last man standing etc :)

We all started somewhere and I am sure that we all experienced the trepidation of how to survive when we hit a spell of bad weather.
Thing is, we've all come through it before and will again. I look at it that the next few day are going to be rough, so earnings will inevitably be considerably reduced. However, when the weather improves I will be busy catching up. It's swings and roundabouts. It helps to have a few bob put aside for bad spells to keep the bills paid.

Regardless of the weather some people just cant run a business that is their downfall not the weather .
Like all things in life you get out what you put in , Some lads just cant stick it simples . Mike

Hi i started up 3 weeks ago. I love working for myself. Only got enough customers to get out 2 days a week tho. The weathers horrendous but there has been 2 days a week ive got out so cant complain really

I went from part-time trad to full time last Autumn due to redundancy from my permanent Job. Hard at moment but I know goods days are only around the corner ! Nothing better than this Job come Spring/Summer months.
Mind you after just investing in WFP system couple of weeks ago I must admit of having a few sleepless nights wondering what the hell I have done.

I was the same when I switched. Think everyone is.
In 6 months time you will wish you switched sooner. :)

I ditched the wfp system twice when I converted ;D
It takes time. It will take a few tears aswell, but you will get there and soon reap the rewards ;)

tbh this year i have missed less days than any other winter! north east hasnt had it to bad.
but its the same in any line of work you have weeks were your just fed up and work is slow, i just come on here and read some success stories and it makes me feel better and want to work harder ;D

got started about 6 months ago . since I currently only have customers to work part time. no problem or stress about falling behind. it's kind of perfect for me. Last month was pretty good,I managed to pick up 16 new customers. The business can only get better from now unless of course I was to loose significant amount of customers ( which is unlikely). I have now been reading the paper in my van for over one hour Waiting for the rain to stop! I only managed to clean 3 houses this morning. Time to go home !!! I'm beaten for today!!! ::)roll

Don't worry mate ask away when you need help everyone has silly questions sometimes I've been at the game for years recently cbanged old pump and controller turns out all I had was a serious calibration problem ;)

Window cleaning is a mug's game, especially in Britain - it rains, like, all the time.
