Title: Runs from black seals
Post by: David stewart on February 06, 2014, 11:53:31 pm
Need some help here lads, did two new houses the day and both were terrible for black runs and stains coming from the black seals. No matter how hard and long I scrubbed them the black just kept on coming no end! I told the customers I'd call back in the morn when passing to check up on them.
Is there anything that can be done to get rid of this or will I just have to trad them?

Thanks

Davy.

I had one the other day, it does stop eventually. It doesn't actually effect the quality of the glass cleaning though so your fine. As long as your techniques right.

These ones had dividers across the top so was cleaning all the tops then coming back round and cleaning the bottom glass but no matter how long you seem to leave it, water will eventually begin to run from the divider down onto the bottom pane. Was thinking of going round all the rubber seals and giving them a good clean with a cloth first. Tomorrow will tell a tale when I call to check up on them  :-\

When you have finished scrubbing turn the water off and go over the frame with the brush taking any excess water off. Also watch lee burbidge and wagga vid for a really good tip about dripping sills its excellent

Spray on TFR/G101/etc

Scrub with brush for a minute then scrub with water on after a minute the water will run clear, then wash window and rinse as normal.

From now on you will never, ever get black runs ( providing the customer keeps to a regular service )

We do this to all our first cleans, it's a build up pollution, soaps, salt etc that has attacked the outer layer of rubber seal, once clean they don't run.

The amount varies from really jet black for a good couple of minutes to almost nothing
And as long as you scrub with cleaner then wash all the black washes away and does not stain the frames
