Mornin Daz,

Course i am working, its only brandy and I am not one of those people who let stuff take over.

If you are weak willed then I guess its easy to see how it could rule your life if that's what you are inferring is my problem.

That was the first drink I have had in about 2 weeks and I doubt I will bother for a week or so before i have another.

Some people are quite capable of making decisions for themselves and not allowing things to take over their life.

I am sorry if you are the type of person who does not know when to stop but please don't judge others by your own downfalls.

PS. My head is fine, No headache   ;)

He wasnt having a go at you mate, so dont be so touchy. This is a forum, so if you come on stating you are half way through a bottle of brandy, dont expect folks not to pass comment!.

As for working today, that is your choice, but you will DEFINITELY still be over the legal limit, so i sincerely hope you are not driving?.

That would be extremely stupid and irresponsible.

Geoff, if your comment is serious then you, my man, are a prize c*ck. He'll be ok till he kills or maims someone, then his life, and the family and friends of all the person he hits will be shattered.

On an aside, i've certainly more respect for Daz than the OP, for what it's worth. The OP's response was unnecessary.
Good on ya Daz!

I can't answer your question Steve, but i did check out what you where refering too, and yes the search results from here and elsewhere indicate that some people do indeed refer to it as CUI. I'd hazard a guess that they're stupid, or, if they're bigger than me then its probably a simple typo  ;D

I'm glad I don't drink anymore either, I jacked last night.

Turned to intravenous?
Your avatar needs changing to something like off of Trainspotting.

Interesting how many people seem...touchy? about alcohol.
I wonder how many of us on here are alcoholics?
Are alcoholics but in denial?
Former alcoholics?

I know someone who did a four pack of special brew, bottles of wine and now does neat vodka or whiskey and drives home from work.
Never crashed (far as i know) but blooming' 'ek he's pushing it.
One time (he said) things were blurry after a special brew session and driving home. He had to 'close one eye to drive straight'
He reckons he hasn't got a drink problem though.  ::)roll

Alcoholism runs in my family so i'm always interested in peoples views on it.

Do you drink much Darren?

No.
I've had a few posts with Tosh about my drinking.
I'm quite boring really.
My dad is now dry but used to be more than a bit partial so my brothers and I are quite wary of how much we drink.
Alcoholism and addiction in general really interest me. I like to know why people think the way they think then do what they do.
I do have a leaning towards alcoholism though. I can feel it. Kind of keeps me on my toes...I hope.

Similar to myself a few years ago re keeping on your toes.

I don't drink often enough these days to be an alcoholic though so I'll have to class myself as a binge drinker instead.

Fine line bud.
As long as you're happy in yourself and your family and real friends have no cause for concern, I've found that to be a good gauge.

This thread is so comical I ended up spitting whisky all over the screen.
I'll have to wipe the dust from the monitor more often in case I have to lick the whisky off it again.

A fly landed in my drink the other day.  I picked it out and yelled "Spit that back out you <naughty word>

alcoholism is absolutely rife where i live, drug addiction also.smackheads, crackheads and alcoholics. :(

4 guys i used to drink with years ago are all dead now.2 died of  cirrohosis of the liver and the other 2 choked on there own vomit while drunk.

one was 22 yrs old.the other 3 were in their late 30s/early 40s.

an alcoholic died in my flat before i lived here.his wife had kicked him out, kids didnt want to know him,no friends left etc.

he was dead for a MONTH before anyone noticed he had died.very very sad. :(

i know old  schoolmates who i dont recognise anymore who were really good lads but the drink and drugs have turned them into rotten sick people with no morals or self respect left.their lives are in pieces.

thank god i sought help over 10 years ago now when i was ill with addiction problems.

most people can drink without much trouble but for those that do have trouble its a living hell, absolute torture and misery both for yourself and other people who your in contact with.

I was just about to write a comical post just for a laugh about how I'd started drinking again this afternoon but I've now stopped and I read what you've put here,

Its fantastic that you've done what you've done Daz, I bet you're chuffed to pieces.

Well done mate and I mean that.

And being sober doesn't make you clever. The OP asked why CUI as opposed to CIU, we didn't need an alkys life story? Go make your own thread on alcoholism.

I'd hardly call what's written above as alkies life stories.

How about making a new thread as to why threads about CUI, as opposed to CIU, get changed to one about alkies?

There's always the 'other non cleaning related topics' section if you want to have a rant or express your point of view. Personally, I don't know why more on here don't use that part of the forum.

It's a great part of this forum and those that frequent there are a lot more tolerant than some on here. It may seem a bit buddy buddy down there but it's actually not and you can post any old rubbish you feel like and on any subject.
