Title: Weak tea!/Dirty cups?
Post by: Klean07 on January 31, 2014, 10:24:53 pm
I've got a handful of customers that make rubbish cups of tea either too milky or cheap tea bags or sometimes dirty horrible cups! It obviously gets chucked away but does anyone else get this?

I had one, lovely couple, a bit OCD.
Used to wash up with bleach.
Tea/coffee/squash... It all tasted like bleach.
I now rock up, hop out if the van then while they're looking take a swig of coke from my van.
Then when they asked, I'd say, I've just had a drink, thanks anyway.
They stopped asking after about a year of me doing this.
Lovely couple-I just couldn't face the bleach and didn't want to hurt their feelings.

I've got one that is just epic.

Earl grey with full fat milk!!! It is gruesome.

Every clean though it's ' here's your tea!!'

I've tried every trick to get rid of it. Worse thing is when he folliwd me round the house and I have to drink it

I've one customer who always makes me a tea with condensed milk. Yuk.

Another uses some supermarket cheapo teabags. Even if you stuck half a dozen in the cup it'd still be as weak as hell.

Goats Milk is very nice if it's fresh - dire if it isn't.

I only accept a cup of tea if I am doing a large job. Conny roof, fascias or whatever. I have normally finished a regular job before they have made it and I don't have time to chat over a cuppa.

If you drink coffee, condensed or evaporated milk in it is delish!

+1. I avoid at all costs.

We clean a country pub that bring out a great brew every clean. Choice of tea bags, homemade buscuits etc. it's a shame that we have to clean it before 10am otherwise I'm sure they would bring us a nice pint of cask ale!

Screw that. I would only stop for tea if a) the weather is terrible 2) it was a big job and I'd be stopping for tea anyway - as it was tea time or D) she was hot.

I agree. Builds good relations.
One custy has introduced us to those Maryland Gooeies I think they're called.  8) Love those. Not had a bad tea for years really. But the thought of that Earl Grey with full milk is funny.  ;D

I'm still looking for the Jackpot, tea and 2 bacon butties  ;)

It's all well and good having a brew now and again (I try and keep track and, if asked, have one when I have time) but regularly every day, nah. Those 10 minutes add up and I have stuff to do when I get home - no kids but I do run a (for fun) smallholding, so have animals to attend to.

Personally I find that being cheery and polite and having only the occasional cup of tea and chat works fine.

Also, when they are closing all the public loos there's the issue of going for a pee, which is a whole different thread lol!

I always accept drinks from customers. If it's gross or I haven't got time to drink it then I just tip it away.

The other day though I had drunk half a mug of coffee and there was what looked like curry stuck to the inside of the mug half way down  :'(

Bits of meat, or just the sauce?

I never accept offers of tea/coffee from customers, too much of a temptation to stop longer than i should chatting!.

Of course, the fact that i am very particular about how i take my tea/coffee might also have something to do with that, and having read these posts, i am thinking my 'policy' is the right one ;D

I mentioned on another thread about an Irish traveller lady customer who makes a great mug of tea, with sausage rolls, ham sandwich, biscuits and choccys, every time I am there.

Being of her background, everything is spotlessly clean too. Lovely lady.
