Had insurance company out today ref income protection policy. What do you think for £1000 a month for 2 years after accident or illness,£100 a day as in patient,£50000 accidental death lump sum,£50000 serious injury lump sum and the best bit £8251.20 guaranteed full money back(12 year no claim bonus) all for £57.30 a month ???

any insurance polisy needs to be read through including all the fine print and they like to baffle you with leagal terms. i have heard of many cases where something similar to this policy is difficult  to get a pay out because of all the clauses. this may be ok but as i say read the fine print

Hi Guys,

I sold these policies , briefly in the early 80's.

They have confused things by having a premium refund if no claim , this in reality means the money is paid into a savings / investment policy which over 12 years should make 2-4 times your 8 grand , which is their profit.

Also these policies are notorius for not paying out , e.g you are unfit to clean carpets but could get an office job so they refuse to pay.

Also worth looking at what State benefits you are entitled to as these would not be payable if you have insurance income.

In short it's very complex but if you are going to buy look for a policy which gives  benefits but no premium refund and save seperately.

Cheers
