Title: world pay zinc
Post by: derek west on January 24, 2014, 07:58:13 pm
Got my mobile terminal today for taking cards with my mobile phone, must say its brilliant, really easy to use and set up. the terminal is £59.99 and then you just pay 2.75% of your transactions, no monthly fees at all. reason why i went for this over izettle and the paypal one is you can take payments over the phone aswell which is handy for deposits or when your cleaning end of tennancy's and client isn't there.

if anyone is interested you can get £10 off your handset if you use this referal code FR269264

anyhoo just thought i'd post it in case anyone was considering getting one.

Looks good Derek. I like the no monthly fees.

How about receipts? will it email one to client?

yes, you can just type in the custies email (great for marketing too in the future), its just a simple card receipt like you get from a machine but it does have your address and company name on. did a test today and it worked great.

You need a merchant account to use this, correct?

What are the merchant bank charges?

incorrect. they just pay the money into my normal account, its like childs play which is why i chose it.  ;D

Derek have you worked out why it has a cash button yet when you log on? i.e. it has two payment methods, cash or card, the only reason i can think of is that it allows you to issue a receipt for any cash transactions. It only came with some very basic instructions of how to set it up to your account and link to phone not how to actually use it, not that is hard but was puzzled over the cash button.

exactly that richard, to give an invoice, pretty sure you don't pay 2.75% on the cash transaction, hope not anyhoo  ;D i will call them to double check.

I'm interested in this. Will you just tell your customers there will be a 2.75% surcharge for paying by card and add it on when you type the amount into the machine?

The cash option is just so you can track 'other' payments (cash etc) using their system, if you choose to.  It's free.

personally no but you can do its up to you, can't see me taking to much on card so i'm gonna include it in the original price, the money and time i save on taking cheques to the bank will offset the cost i reckon.

dont forget the referal code FR269264

I see your point Derek. I was thinking about absorbing the cost into the job price, and like you i probably wouldn't take too many card payments.

I've had a card payment system set up for 18 months now.....transactions on it.....NONE.
Without checking things I reckon 95% of my payments are cash the rest cheque or BACS payments.

I take quite a few cc payments. Depends on how much you advertise the fact you have the facility.

i'm not trying to force it on anyone, its just after a bad experience from a none payer, it could of been avoided with a machine like this, costs you a one off payment and then use it or not, its there just in case. probably gather dust in my van but its there for when i get that, "i'm not sure these are gonna pay" feeling. i will still take cheques off regular trusting homeowners but EOT's  will be cash or card from now on.

ps... the bad experience ended happily but not until i went through money claim online.

Just sent my card machine back. It was costing me nearly £40 a month and virtually never used it. It`s either cash, cheque or bacs for me. Like the idea of the World Zinc though!

I use Payatrader so that was a one off payment so no ongoing monthly payments so might as well keep it on.
I advertise the fact but people still tend to pay in cash.

Just taken my first payment, end of tenancy and she can't be there, leaving the key at the shop next door, doing it friday and she's paid in full today. could of sorted a cheque out to be left there but i kinda like this way, its in the bank, i don't need to cash it in and wait 8 days for it to clear, yeah worth a few quid just for piece of mind, did this one over the phone.

Sorry if it's been covered but how long to go into your account?

As one problem with payatrader is its Friday week before you get it.

they say 3 days, i'm testing it now, will let you know. not sure if its 3 days or 3 working days.

Takes about 12 days with Payatrader but not too bothered as long as it's there.
Been waiting about 3 weeks for payment for 3 seperate jobs for same block of flats owner but not bothered as I've worked for him for 4 years now. Sometimes he doesn't even know I've been as his office handles everything usually, including deciding whether to have them cleaned.
Time doesn't bother me as long as I know I'll get it.

I have been using this for a little while. It comes into your account three business days later.
20/01/2014      MV- 19464293 -1701       220.00
20/01/2014    MV- 19464293 -1601       95.00

The charges are flexible and you are charged 2.75% per transaction on the pay as you go code. You can then pay 5.99 a month and the charges drop to 1.75% or pay £12.99 a month and there are no charges. You can decide at the end of the month what price you want to pay as they bill you after the end of the month so you can work out what is the most advantageous rate for you.
No brainer really.
The cash side is so you can record a transaction on your main switchboard on your account. The reason you may want to do this is to issue a receipt. It's impressive when someone holds their mobile phone in their hand and up pops the text receipt from Carpet Cleanse and the amount. You put down in the heading box on the phone what it was for. Say Upholstery Cleaning and then it comes through on the customers bank statement with the heading you have typed in and Carpet Cleanse. Customers feel it's good technology and it's paperless. No more tatty invoice pads that have been dropped in the rain. In addition the bright ones amongst you now can start selling extra jobs and offer that they put it on their credit cards.
I think that you miss the point if you start adding it on as a charge to the customer. You take a cheque, with no guarantee that it bounces, drive two miles to the bank, fill out the form, wait in the queue, then have to wait 5 working days until it clears and there is no chance of the funds being recalled...............nah if you want to do that, you're welcome.
I will add it on to my website too. Just looks more professional in my humblest of opinions!!!!!

Over £400 taken on card last week and today, works really well, anyone interested in getting a world pay zinc card terminal, there's £10 off with this code FR269264.

Not 1 customer has batted an eyelid at the machine, only positive comments so far.  :)

Big thanks to all the guys that signed up to world pay zinc and used my code, i got £135 in amazon vouchers so could noy only afford the name badges for the TACCA day but i went all out and bought multi coloured lanyards to hang them on and yes Billy, there is pink ones just for you  ;D

Brilliant little payment machine, been using it a couple of months now and it works brilliantly. Over the phone is good too, just taken a payment for tomorrows end of tenancy clean as she can't be there so leaving a key. nothing worse than them leaving a cheque with no forwarding address. Anyhoo, if anyone else is interested then here's my code for £10 off FR269264  need some banners to go outside the venue  :)

Well done Derek. This little thing really interests me. I'll definitely go for it when my contract with streamline runs out which is November this year. Cant wait, paying about £40 a month rental/insurance plus transaction fees. Just keep posting the ref. number so its visible  ;D
