No I think you have missed a part off or got the sides facing the wrong way.

They do have that amount of play on one side cant remember which side now but once you put a Brass elbow or other outlet on side of reel and put hose you wont have any issues .
Had my first one almost 2 1/2 years without issue . Mike

There can be a bit of play when assembled - this is not usually a problem. Any chance of a photo showing where the play is?

Thanks for the replys it looks ok but was surprised with the play.
Alex its a cm of play where you screw the brass swivel connection (sorry camara not to hand}.
Alex i also brought 2 of the microbore to hozelock converters from you could you tell me do you just push the microbore hose over it or do you use some sort of cli[p aswell.
Thanks

This amount of play at this point is normal and is not a problem.
If you mean one of these:
Then the way to fit them is to undo the black collar and slide over the end of the hose first. Dip the end of the Microbore hose into a cup of boiling water for 10 seconds and then push firmly over the barbed end of the fitting. Then screw the black collar back on to the fitting. No other clips are needed.
If you did not mean an Aquastop fitting then the above will make no sense!
