Is it just me or does anyone else stree about the weather forecasts ! I always check forecasts and text customers night before ! If it's forecast rain always expect the customers to text back saying leave it this time, They very rarely do but I still stress!
-
Absolutely mr sparkle, i am right there with you!, that is exactly the same as me!. Part of the problem for me is that quite a lot of my round is some distance away. So if i am having to drive an hour to get to work, i am even more stressed about the forecast!. If i am working local, or relatively local, it isn't such a big issue, other than whether or not to text customers the night before.

Same here mate, and I I've come to the conclusion that the forecasts are a waste of time, rarely get it right. The problem with quite a few of my customers is that they also insisted on a text the night before and even a hint of rain on the forecast will draw a not this time, the forecast is bad

I text everyone, every night.
Anyone says "dont come its going to rain" gets a text back "OK, see you in six weeks"
If I get a response like "Can you come next week", I reply "We will be in a different part of the round by then, so it will have to be six weeks"
They never do it again.
-
I rarely check the weather forecast other than during a cold snap. In 4 years I only ever had two replies to texts questioning work the next day. It is all in your minds. Mine too, at times in fairness.
-
if you had a full round youd not text "can i ? " etc cos youd fall behind
-
I clean in all weather, so when I take on custys from the start they know this. I don't look at the weather forecast as it make no odds to me. If I get turned away due to rain I go there the next month when due. If they do this more than a couple of times I don't go anymore. also I do give the lectures stating that I told them I clean in all weather as I would not take them on. Your running a business not a bloody charity. And yeah its all in ya heads

Who texts "can I?" I am guessing no one.

+1
A little bit of rain never hurt anyone. If anyone doesn't like me cleaning in light/medium rain then they are welcome to find another window cleaner.

I have a very full business. I dont text "can I...", I text "I will be...". Big difference.
-
never texted a customer. i get up look out window if its not stotting down with rain iam off to work. what do you do if it does not rain & customers have said leave them till next month.? you could end up missing out on a good bit of cash
-
just work in all but the worst of weather.it hammered it down for about an hour and a half this morning.i just put waterproofs on and carried on.customers didnt bat an eyelid.
the amount of times ive cleaned in the rain over the last 4 or 5 years is staggering!my customers are used to it.
crack on or your bank balance and ultimately your profit will suffer come the end of the year.
i text a few customers but its only a few here and there.most are "turn up and clean" ;) :)

thats the commonest mistake made by windies. loads send out an evening text "can i clean your windows tomorrow?"
iv come across at least half a dozen ,
in the last month
-
Poke my head out the window to look at the weather forecast, weathermen get it wrong a lot here in Devon even though their weather station is only up the road
-
The weather forecast is never accurate so why plan your work round it . Mike

I used to watch all the forecasts. They tended to differ quite a lot between the various tv stations so I picked out the best one and went with that ;D
-
and can you get stressed about a bit of rain
you need to get out more, what don't get done today gets done tomorrow ;)

You have come across half a dozen window cleaners texting "can i clean your windows tomorrow?" between 22nd December 2013 and 22nd January 2014?
What a load of cobblers. Total, complete, utter, cobblers made up to try and prove a point. I cannot find words to express what a huge lie this is.
Give me your defence. How have you heard about this? From other window cleaners customers (why would they tell you)? From the window cleaners themselves (why would they tell you)? Or did someone come into your bedroom with the tooth fairy and tell you this?
What a joker.

it's going to end in tears :o
-
i text customers every evening it guarantees access to rear
i get the occasional leave it this time,if it becomes a habit which is
rare they are binned.
customers knowing i am coming has gained me extra work
neighbours wanting cleans etc
For me benefits far outway anything negative :)
-
i feel if you set out your work, with a bit of slack in the system, a few days bad weather shouldn't disrupt your work load

good bloody point sir.

I work all weather, but I only plan 4 days work a week at £xxx amount a day and have Friday to catch up on work, to do new jobs, paperwork and to clean my shops.
And also it helps out with holidays, lets say I wanted a week off. I will work on Fridays for a month and will have a week spare with out getting behind.
We earn enough per day not to have to work 5 days a week.
Unless your greedy

So you do work 5 days a week then.

I email on a saturday for the following week. If there are any changes I can rearrange before hand and bring another client forward if it does not work for the client. This way everyone is happy and if we have any messers we let them know!

ah you read the long range forecast. ;D

Don't stress about the weather. If it's raining on you, you're still alive.
It'll be raining one day and you won't be.
-
If we'd have went by the tabloids and their weather predictions we would have all packed up at Halloween for the winter and be thinking of coming out of hibernation at Easter ::)roll
-
im stressed about weather forecast tomoz, peeeing it down.................or is it ::)roll

Don't really bother taking any notice of the forecast
