Title: Domestic cleaning mileage
Post by: Yandunne on January 20, 2014, 11:31:03 am
I am trying to find out if anyone knows if you can claim business mileage for domestic cleaning I.e travelling to and from the same locations weekly? Or would this be classed as commuting? :)

Thanks

HI,

most companies do not charge mileage regardless the cleaning is regular or one off.

This is a complex subject!  A lot depends on the status of the Vehicle!

1.  Is it Privately owned or owned by the business.
2.  Is it a van or car?
3.  Do you use it solely for business or both?
4.  Are you are self employed or a limited company?

So for example in the case of our company vans the company pays everything, Tax, Insurance, MOT & Fuel then we reclaim all the VAT as we are VAT registered and offset the rest as Motoring Expenses.  With my car I own the vehicle so I charge each business mile to one of my companies at £0.45p per mile but I pay all the vehicle expenses myself.  You cannot claim for commuting:

See this article and it will give you some bedtime reading:

Then talk to your accountant for the best way to proceed ;D ;D ;D

This is my company vechicle and I claim everything apart from the 20% that I use it for domestic purposes. I only have the bike and two vans - no merc or jag  ;)

I was but they changed the importer which I thought was good as he's only 8 miles from my house - he was enough of a clock to make me go to the dark side. Mines white anyway - its also go BD cleaning services on the custom seat cover. My accountant always asks the questions and I have to give the correct answers  ;D
