Title: Advice from the pros please
Post by: Tony Edwards on January 17, 2014, 05:49:14 pm
Question for the pros on here.

Looking for a new machine soon and seen both of these two. I only work top end residential and have no desire for commercial work atm as I earn well doing what I am doing.

Can you guys advise which of these you would go for and your reasons

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-HP-DIESEL-PRESSURE-WASHER-GENUINE-YANMAR-L100-/330418713579

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-GX390-PRESSURE-WASHER-13HP-21LTRS-3000PSI-WS202-/170571125422

The Yanmar is 3000 PSI and I believe 15LPM

The Honda also 3000 PSI but 21 LPM

Why the huge price difference for a machine that knocks out less LPM than the Honda ?

Any advice appreciated

cheers

Diesel engines cost twice as much to buy in the first place..hence the price difference. Per cc the honda engines turn out more "power" than the diesels .Hence you can have a small ,lighter ,quieter, cheaper (engine to buy) turning a bigger pump.
The equivalent 21lpm diesel model would need to be twin cylinder, heavier, noisier and cost Three times the price.

I am a big fan of the 250bar 15lpm Honda petrols  these are cheap enough to run and more versatile.
I am now going to get slated to death from the big boys ;D ;D ;D

Q washers... your second ebay selection and ask him to build it with a ws251 instead of the ws201..it will be the same price. You might struggle to find enough water for 21lpm without turning the machine down.

Swings and roundabouts there.

I have always had diesel engined pressure washers and have five at the moment.

When you are looking at the 15 - 21LPM machines you are going to get really good fuel economy, as opposed to slightly higher for petrol.

On 15LPM the difference is around £10.00 per day. We could easily get 6 hours out of the smaller diesel machines.

Anyone will tell you it is a combination of flow & pressure. I cleaned hundreds of stores on 15LPM (diesel) but I wish I had had 21LPM and above, now I have them!

How much is the Zeta (Washy) Washbrook where are you?. He bought one last year

You could get two very good second hand machines for the price of the one and couple them together if you want 30 PM or keep separate for 15LPM x 2 operators.

If you don't trust that route giv me a shout and I will keep an eye out. There is a couple on Ebay at the moment

For your money there is a pile of drain jetters that would easily be converted to twin operator set ups

AllPumpsDirect are really good on price. They have a good range too. I bought a new pump from them and it was £90 cheaper than anywhere else delivered.

If it was me, id buy the 21lpm. We do quite a bit of domestic and have only had to wait for the water to catch up twice. If you have a decent buffer tank you will be fine. If you dont mind paying for petrol, then a petrol machine would probably suit your clientele better (high end properties) as they run quieter.

The qwasher machine (21lpm Honda petrol) is a good machine. Darran (smudger) on here bought on i believe.

Nothing beats Falch, even H&M.  ;D  Future services coming from Blast Away will be 2500 Bar road markings removal.  8) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y72d-UHcdjk

You can put a 21LPM pump on a Yanmar 10hp but you'll get around 170 Bar.

In my experience  you need to consider several key areas

1, Engin - Certainly 11 or 13 hp Honda is hard to beat in every respect.

2, Quality of Pump-  Be careful there are a lot of cheap imported pumps out there.. these appear very similar to quality pumps, supplied for example by Interpump... but will often only last a few months with no parts available to fix.

3, Overall construction and strength of frame.

4, Local service facilities, warranty and manufacturers back up

Hope this helps

I just picked one of these up last week!

We only use it for cleaning the Grinding Machines  and Planetery Heads down but its fabulous.  Falch is the way to go but you need the work for them as well.

I am just chasing one of these at the moment

The only issue I have with them is the onboard water tank is far too small in my opinion

What do you want 500 bar for? There's no heat on that and it's on the same trailer as a T3H. The next one up is the trail jet 30 with a 400 litre tank.
