Title: WD40 to clean a pole?

I have a Gardner pole that I look after and clean regularly. I've been using WD40 which I now understand is not recommended and it seems to be causing it to stick, does anyone know what I should be using and what to use to clean up the pole from the stickiness?

Water or soapy water then rinse.

Alex has said that WD40 can damage a carbon fibre pole

And the best way to clean it is to just take it apart (very easy) and run water from a hose pipe through it.  I always change the tape stops and then spray a dry lubricant on it (the name of it escapes me right now).

dry PTFE lubricant  ;)

i flush mine out with water.take sections apart.wipe down and left to dry then re assemble.

i now also spray it with clear lacquer to keep the pole in good condition and reduce wear on the pole.

Thanks to everyone for the tips, I don't use the forum too much but its a great place for excellent advice, I'll be buying myself a can of dry lube today and cleaning every section thoroughly, cheers, Michael
