Yup.

when you do the top frame, do you clean and rinse it and come back few minutes later to do the glass?

We typically will clean all frames on all upstairs front windows, then clean the glass on the front upstairs windows... then do the same around the back.
Just like to give the frames a little chance to drip/dry before cleaning the glass.
Some might say theres no need, but this is our way and works perfect.

Yes, it's just the way I prefer rather than having to think about when I'm going to do the top.

No, if you do every time it will be fine.
-
I also wipe the customer's bottoms.
Use Softex for best results.

Clean all frames and glass on first clean sometimes top frame.,.
then glass only after that.....clean frames when they need doin.

thanks guys, i think i am going to do the same now, all frames included top frame and glass to avoid smears. Too difficult to avoid completely the top frame so better to clean it in full :)

1 house per hour?
-
windie,how do you do then?
-
Ben - Yes, so say a house has 3 windows (tops) on the front, we will wash the frames on all 3, then go back to the first one and clean and rinse the glass.
Windiewasher - Because this clearly takes soooo much longer doesnt it! ::)roll
-
Quick once over the top frame then straight on the glass. ;D
-
it depends on the type of window.
on plastic windows with good rubber seals i quickly scrub and rinse the top frame every time then straight onto the glass.
on wooden windows and windows with poorly fitted rubber seals i clean and rinse just under the top seal and dont touch the top frame unless its really dirty.then i go and clean another window and then come back and clean the glass only after a few mins.
if its ground floor windows that have dodgy top rubber seals then i go over top frame with a damp cloth and never wash and rinse right up to the seals.this keeps spotting down to a minimum. ;)

when you rinse the glass, do you avoid to touch again the top frame?
-
windie,how do you do then?
wash frames everytime.
then wash the glass as you know I don't rinse the glass as its a waste of time and water.
If I rinsed I couldnt do 5 or 6 houses per hour.

I think this post illustrates how important the correct pole and brush are for this job.
With the correct pole (extreme) and correct brush for the style of window usually no need to even clean the frames. Have a bendy pole and you are spraying water all over the place.
4-6 week maintenance cleans are just that.
Let your own windows get dirty for say 3 months. Then just clean the glass with one stroke up and one stroke down. But make sure corners are cleaned. You will be surprised how little scrubbing effort is needed.
With first cleans I now clean the house as if it's a normal house. No matter how bad.
-
I have a pole with a metal Fixi clamp attached, to this I clamp a sponge with a damp micro fibre
wrapped over it. ( leave about an inch or so sticking out past the clamp )
I quickly run this along the tops of all the windows and down each side.
This removes all the cobwebs and cleans above vents and openers.
I then do all the glass and lower inner frames with my normal pole and brush.
Means I'm never have to worry about water dripping from vents and openers or cobwebs sticking
to my brush.
It also saves me time and water as I'm not trying to rinse of bits of cobweb that have come down from the top
frame onto the glass.
