I visited CARPEX 2006 with a view to purchasing a portable HWE machine.
It seems to me that most manufacturers configure their vac motors in parallel, except 1 who claims dramatic improvement in air flow by putting them in series !
I know, as someone who has been trained in electronics that more current will flow through a parallel circuit of resistance – but the same laws probably do not apply in pneumatics.
They both can’t be right, what is the view of this group ?

i had a porty with vacs in series and it seemed to have tremendous suction but the motors had a very short life, as one seems to turbo charge the other, so i think it's a trade off with power and expense

I thought that one gives high water lift and the other way high air flow. You need high air flow to dry a carpet, and high water lift for upholstery cleaning. So if parrell or series, one way is better for carpet than upholstery and vice versea.
Forgot which way round was better for which :-[ :-[ :-[
