Hi, going to perth austrailia in April, looking for info on w/c or w/c
contact in the perth area?
Thought mabey lee might have some info?
-
I went to Aus last year...
They dont have window cleaners there as such, they have companys go and do the whole 9 yards once a year or twice a year.
i.e - window clean, carpet clean, clean swimming pool etc
The idea of having a 'stranger' go round to your house is'nt 'normal' over there. (as in turn up every month)

I know it's different more like America I think.
Did you speak to any cleaners? Where in aus where you?
-
Would you have a sponser if you went over there?

No i asked my brother who lives over there.
I went to Sydney, then flew to Brisbane.
I put my business up for sale last year with the intension of moving over there, but have since changed my mind for now as have a few things that I need to sort over here first.
-
I've never been ::)roll but looking forward to
Going not sure yet if we will move.
Thanks for replys
-
To be honest tho pal, its too hot over there to be going flat out window cleaning like you would here anyway... you would collapse.
My plan was to just do bar work... for a bit of extra income. Ideal for meeting people, and air con ;D

you'll have no issues in Perth as your man has says generally cleaning involves more than wiindows inc pools outside areas sidings etc more of a general external maintenance
do a Google search of window cleaners it will bring up a number of companies in your area
They operate a safety card system over there dependent on what state your in similar to the cscs here
well worth doing as it will open more doors for you
you'll love it
my Mrs uncle and family have been in Perth 2 years now they have said should have gone years ago
-
Yes we're pretty excited been waiting over 2 years was
planning on landscaping but think I'll stick with window cleaning
To start with.
Thanks for a good post

have a look on gumtree perth wa these usually plenty of work advertised on there it will give you a idea of what people are paying
Perth has more brits than any other city most still have the values and continue to live life like they did in the uk
they still have Sunday lunch watch out for the footie results and want their windows cleaned every month
if your looking at setting up on your own there is a big and still growing ex pat community there
-
why would you want to leave scotland?,.............sorry just answered my own question :D

I used to live there and worked for a while as a landscape gardner amongst other things.
It's not too hot to go flat out you get used to the heat, I've played football when it's been 35c+.
Window cleaning is a different ball game.
Yes folk do have them cleaned every now and then but a lot of the time it involves removing mozzie screens.
Commercial is the way I'd go.
Oh and I'd go on a working holiday visa if your young enough to start with.

Was it hard work finding a job? This is what worries me.
-
When her uncle went his Mrs etc found Iit really easy there was loads of unskilled jobs but he had big problems he was a plumber / fitter and they did not recognise his qualifications so his been back to college to retrain and get what was needed for the last 2 years
luckily they had enough cash in the bank to survive

You've got permanent residency so it should be ok finding work.
If your skilled (window cleaning doesn't count ;D) your laughing.
I wouldn't sell up over here though cos you might not like it.
It's a fantastic country and I loved my time there but it's not all milk and honey.
I'd say the majority of poms who go over have either seriously considered coming home or have actually done it.
-
Not planning on selling anything here my dads started w/c so
Hopefully he will look after the windows for me and we will let the
House out, so if it's not for us we can come back.
I do landscaping hard and soft, fencing, mono blocking, decking ect.
Also been known to clean a window or two ;D but to be honest will do anything.
Going on the wife's visa (hairdressing).
-
There's a lot more call for landscaping over there than here.
The firm I worked for were always busy.
I didn't sell up either just rented the house out.
I found oz much easier to get work than here.
Where are you going to live?
-
Going to carramar in April, but we will go where either me or wife
can get a job to keep us and take it from there.
Any suggestion for good areas?
-
Never been to Oz, always fancied the idea of emigrating some place.
Good luck with the move.

Strangely enough that's where we looked at first for a villa but
ended up with villa in carramar, we will be checking that area out though.

My cousin used to live near there, nice beaches ;D
If you don't have kids I'd rent for a bit and live somewhere you can't afford to buy.
I used to live in Bondi with a view of the beach.
Loved the eastern suburbs beach scene.
Perth is nice but it wouldn't be where I'd live its a bit too isolated for me.
If I were to settle I'd look at somewhere near Byron Bay or more likely Newcastle in NSW.
Houses prices aren't as bad near Newcastle and there is work.
The beaches are fantastic there, the wine region is on the doorstep, Sydney is a couple of hours south.
Lots of forest and hills to get lost in.
-
Where ever you end up you'll love it they have the work life ratio spot on over there this country could learn a lot from the aussies

It's amazing how many people we know or have met who have gone or been.

Sounds amazing but 2kids 6/8 think the isolation might suit us ;D
This forum is my social life ;D

There's a window cleaner from Perth called Claire moritz on the Facebook window cleaning page
I have spoke to her a few times seems nice I am sure she could help you.

I have just spent 3 weeks in Perth on holiday. Its hot, and I grew up in south Africa. I would think once you get used to the heat it would be ok to work in. Its a beautiful city, and so relaxed.
Window cleaning is done differently there, its once or twice a year so you need more residential, but you charge more.
I am waiting for my visa (4 years waiting...) but once I get it I am going to send the family down there and sell up and follow a few months later.
cant wait, fingers crossed we get our visa this year.

Part of the reason I came home was for work life balance.
In Sydney we both needed to work full time to make ends meat.
Our apartment cost us about £900 a month by now it'll probably be over £1100.
I had a fairly well paid job and there was always pressure to be in the office till late a lot of my colleagues were there till 8 or 9 at night. (I didn't which didn't go down too well)
We wanted to have kids but there's no maternity leave over there but in NSW you do get a small payout for having a child.
Most people save their holidays up for 2 or 3 years to have time off with a baby.
As soon as folk are pregnant they have to sort out childcare (its hard to find and you need to get back working quick)
We couldn't afford to buy anywhere in Sydney where we actually wanted to live.
Western suburbs were affordable but most of my workmates lived there and faced a 3 hour round trip on public transport everyday. That coupled with long hours made it a very long day.
(I used to ride my bike to work over the harbour bridge every morning loved it)
Back in the UK I can afford a nice house without living for the mortgage 2 cars, holidays etc and its all easier than in Sydney.
My wife had over a year off when our little lad was born and we were able then to afford for her to pack in work and start her own business part time which fits in round the little one.
If I ever went back to Oz permanently I'd steer clear of the big cities its just too much hassle having a life.
The only problem with going somewhere a bit country however is that wages aren't too good but house prices are still fairly expensive although nowhere near big city prices.
But work life balance is decent. ;D
