Title: Van layout for tm
Post by: Luc on December 30, 2013, 05:24:44 pm
Hi guys I'm having my van all speedlined next week and just wanting to get some ideas of how to reorganise my van. Anyone got any pics of their van layout. My old layout was basic but served a purpose but I've just  put all new plywood in my van and ripped out the old basic metal shelving unit I had. I'm wanting to make the new layout look really professional this time round

Many thanks

Luc

No pictures but one tip....Invert your hose reel and fix it to the roof of your van, frees up loads of wasted space that would be above the reel if it sat on the van floor

Like the idea of that Mike.. 8) But how would you attach to reel and what sort of length of pipe could it realistically hold? And are you only saying solution hose or vacuum aswell..?

Ihave my reel hooked into the roof strut at one end and one single centre bolt at the other with a steel 12-15inch bar on top of the roof to spread out the stress of the wieght( if that makes sense) it holds 200ft of vac hose.

My solution hose is separate and coiled in 50-75-100ft lengths hooked onto the side of the van. My van is a high roof so I have 4ft of usable space under the reel which would be wasted if it sat on the floor

Luc what sized hose reel have you got?

I have my hose reel behind the bulkhead the tm is at the side it's in total the width of the side door I curl up solution hose and put it in the back but simon recommended a solution reel from ebay which I'm going to attach on the bulkhead above the hose reel.

Mike that's a good idea attaching it to the roof and I could utilise a lot more space under the reel. Shaun I think I have the standard hydramaster vacume and solution hose reel but really like the idea of having it in the side door but I don't think I have enough room in my medium wheel base transit. Must make it a lot easier to get set up. Does anyone use a live vacume and solution reel like the yanks use?

I've got a vauxhall movano I'm pretty sure it's the same size I'll try and get a pic for you.

Thank you Shaun that would be a great help. While my machine is out I'm also thinking of insulating the inside of the van. Has anyone else used the underlay that you use for laminate flooring? I have loads of it in my garage that was left by the people I brought the house off.

One of our customers fabricated his own reels. It was a class install.

I enquired about one but I find a second hand tm which was easier to buy, they look really good for the money there's a few different ones in the range.

It looks quite a compact machine, something you could have in a smaller van.

and behind the hose reel we have had a stand made so we can stack or rx20s on top of our rdms

I like the hose reel on the side it is as its away from the middle of the road , which may just save your life as one day
