Hi guys
So what did you think of the carpex this year?
Did you learn anything new?
We missed the Thursday seminar with Derek Bolton about OZONE did any one attend and what did he talk about?
By the way nice to meet DOUG HALLOWAY and ARTHUR from A&J CLEANING SERVICES.
-
I have just posted the same photo, lol ;)

I have found the show very interesting. I have seen virtually all kinds of carpet cleaning equipment available today on the market. Some seminars were very interesting as well.
I have spent a lot of time talking to Andy Alcock and Judy Bass who are from Leather-Master trained technician (http://www.lttsolutions.net/about.htm). Andy is a very nice man, told me a lot about the leather, but the most important thing which I learnt from that discussion is that you should not clean the leather unless you have been taught to do it… There was an attractive offer to attend his course, but unfortunately I could not commit myself to an exact date, but I am going to attend his training course as soon as an opportunity arises…
About carpet cleaning machines I should say that from my point of view there is only one machine that stands out from the crowd at the moment. It is a porty, which uses recycled water. I know that there is a lot of argument going on about using recycled water in carpet cleaning, but I have heard good comments about it from people who use such machines, so this type of machine looks very attractive to me…

hi Arthur
You should go for the test drive with the C.F.R.
-
I am also very impressed by these machines but they seem so big and bulky. I wouldn't fancy lifting one of those in / out of my escort van up to 6 times every day.
I enjoyed the show - nice to see all the manufacturers getting on so well together!!
-
I thought Carpex was a lot better than the NEC show last year. A lot of stands had electric so you could use the machines and Chemspec showed us their TM in the demo van - very nice indeed.
I attended the NCCA talk and Derek Boltons talk on upholstery. Both very informative with interesting things coming up with the NCCA which may mean every cleaner needs to join it :o. However not enough time to see all the talks or the stone show either.
Nothing overly new apart from the CFR fan which I bought. Seen the Scorpian and was very impressed with the performance at 50ft of 2inch hose but felt the build quality could be slightly better for the sake of a few pounds. Liked the Solutions 2 inch hose, very flexible unlike mine so 50ft may have to be bought for using in the house also the swivel cuffs are needed too.
Liked the deal truvox where doing on the cimex.

Steve,
This machine has a very clever design for loading it in/out of a vehicle similar to one that you use, just take a look at the picture on the bottom of the page (http://www.amtechuk.biz/perfect_heat_spec.php), it is also another reason why this machine looks attractive to me.
With this machine you can save a lot of time by not refilling the machine...I am not promoting it, however 8)

Hi Guys,
Karooush , it was nice to meet you too as well as lots of other old faces and some new.
I'm afraid I missed the friday afternoon arrivals as the previous nights 8 hour session and carrying all those samples about , had worn the old boy out!
I agree the Amtech machines looked to be of a high quality , Scorpion looked powerful but needs refining and one that caught my eye was Woodbridge's Mytee , twin vac ,heat exchanger , 500psi pump all for £1400 + vat, although obviously an unknown .
I was also quite impressed with Envirodri , must try soon.
On TM's I am going to have a Woodbridge demo , Hydramaster were impressive as always and once again the best stand to visit for refeshment and a laugh.
Prochem was a bit staid , no samples etc , Allltec had a good range on show and a couple of nice young girls .
I'm going to do a sperate topic on chems so it doesn't get too complicated.
Cheers
Doug
P.S
Almost forgot LTT where Andy and Judy were helpful and interesting as always.
-
O yes, I forgot about the girls with Alltec. :o :o :o :o :o
-
Anyone notice Derek Boltons yacht parked up outside ;D
What a show off...
-
The only thing interesting this year was watching Len Gribble getting drunk at the hotel.
who said that ;D
-
David
Naughty naughty six pints I don’t like wine! ;D
Len
-
Did you say six or sixteen ,
In fact you spoke more sense the more you drank ;D
P.s. Deb,s said Hello

Doug
Mytee has been around for years in the US and it's one of many compact, but powerful portables available accross the pond, I think the manufacturer is Century.

arthur regarding the perfect heat and cfr system i bought one and find it great . i did a pub yesterday with 5 bedrooms a double living room a loo and a bar as well as the stairs. the carpets were trashed not been cleaned for several years and i got them looking like new. there was people working there doing various jobs reovating the place and i took orders because they was so impressed. the water does get cloudy but its not dirty as the filter system works. regarding the comment about size and weight its much easier to get in and out of the van than the prochem machines as it slides in and very easily turned. in fact a chhap around the corner from me bought one and was concerned about the weight and space in his van so he came round to try and lift it in his van. hew was amazed at how easy it was , is now able to throw away the ramp he used to get his altech in and out and guess what he has more room in the van. all you have to remember is that you must spend 10 minutes at the end of the day giving it a good clean and it does a great job. every where i have took it the clients are so impressed with it beacause it looks the part big and powerful. but so easy to pusg around as the balance is very good. leaves carpets dryer than conventional wands and hand tools. you use less product in the tank because it recycles. im using so little a couple of capfuls of fabric and fibre rinse seems to do the job

I have the CFR 'roller wand' (push forward type). It would be interesting to see how the 'wonder wand' compares to this when used with the same machine. :-\
Does the 'Wonder wand have rollers, or a glide baseplate?
-
woner wand is exactly the same as the roller wand put has a conventional method by pulling rather than pushing, and yes it does have rollers. it also has the same jet system as i say exactly the same just reversed so i should imagine same results
-
Two machines that impressed me, were the Prowler and the Power-Flite tooling CFR range
David
6 ;D
You have one nice lass there, give Deb’s my regards.

Interesting point about the w/w as this was the only negative for me concerning cfr, the push, to extract was heavier than conventional dragging particularly with th weight of the wands.
Carpetclean
Your comments are exactly what I've been saying for years and the rubbish talked by idiots who don't have the system is not worth reading.
Obviously.........water would be dumped as soon as it became unnacceptably soiled
best wishes

I have not seen CFR roller wands at work, but I would assume that because of rollers they are easier to use. However there are other tools available (at higher costs of course), which would also make your work easier.
CFR sales people claim that their wands are built to maintain a constant water flow, as I understand they are claiming that their wands work in a similar (not the same) way as HydraMaster’s “DRI” tools, so you can work without over wetting the carpet.
Could anybody comment about that?
boshravie and carpetclean may be you could share your experience

...water would be dumped as soon as it became unnacceptably soiled...
Rob, if you are commenting about recycled water, then let me just say that, as I was told by CFR sales people, the machine stops working as soon as filters and water get dirty.

Arthur

arthur the water filters are very good and you would have to clean really grubby carpets for them to bl;ock i did a renovation job last sinday where builders had trashed them water was filthy but filters still worked.regarding the wand and the hand toold you can go over the same spot several times and it will not over wet you can even hold it satic and not over wet i have the rdm and you are right it works in the same way even though they are different systems
-
hi arthur
dear arthur the best way for you to know all about these C.F.R machines is to come downe to Am tech main branch in East sussex and practice plus talk it over with Karl.
-
One thing to bear in mind with Roller wands, is that they can suffer from wear.
See my posting on 'another forum' (ending in pros) entitled 'CFR roller wand tip', dated August 10th 2005 (currently page 36).
Can't paste the link, as it's not allowed!!
If the Wonder wand is the same design, then it could be affected over time.
-
The CFR roller wand and the glide wands are both push action.
I tried the glide wand but couldn't get used to how easy it flowed over the carpet...it didn't feel as though I was actually cleaning. I therefore opted for the roller wand instead, its a bit more work but does a great job.
The glide wand was simply 'me' not coming to terms with it not a problem with the wand ...apparently the wonder wand gets the carpets dry even quicker but I haven't tried one yet.

Doug, I was quoted 1200 for the woodbridge machine, which was cheap as ashbys ninja with 400 psi pump, smae vac and a 3kw heater, (not exchanger) was 1800. I was also told the woodbridge has a 450 psi pump, not 500 as you stated. Also have used this machine and the ninja and the 12 inch rear wheel on the woodbridge are brillant,
The ninja is dead, long live the ninja.

Well if any one needed coverting to CFR that was me, and well they nearly done it, explaining the ozone and how it generates ozone in the tank and not in the solution line, had some great debates with suppliers and learnt a bit, however I found the knowledge of some people limited and theses people were supposed to be the pro's, one chap in a seminar marketing his stuff, did not know of ms's, but in all great too look at all the things you hear about but cant afford, I was like a kid in a sweat factory "look but dont touch"
James
-
James,
Why would you need OZONE machine?
To my understanding the purpose of using the OZONE is not to clean the carpet, but to sanitise it or I got it wrong?

Arthur
