Remember all things slow down in cold weather ....so what works today will be 50% quicker /more potent in spring/summer. Any mix ratio's /times you might of read upon on this forum will be from when the lads are busy in summer(roughly speaking) take this into account now the temps are lower.
-
OK thanks ill bear that in mind...i think i will try a few test areas with different dwell times etc...as i know that the customer will be out all day.
-
£12 we pay now. £2 Rise a couple of months ago.
-
:o wow that is very cheap...im assuming they are up north...do they deliver?
-
Same place as Lee, although I don't use that much of it.

Bury, Gt. Manchester. Been paying £10 for years. You can get an IBC delivered if you use a pallet firm with a Moffit on the back off the wagon. IBC's work out about £6 per 25 litres.

Great thanks for the replies...tried it out on a decking today for the first time and I must be doing something wrong as it made no difference at all really.Applied it with a watering can and brushed in with stiff brush tried different ratios 3:1 then 2:1 then 1:1 left to dwell for 20mins, 30 mins then 40mins etc etc... but made very little difference at all ??? even used it neat in one part with the same results.
Any idea why? Temperature was 8-9 degrees today so wasn't very cold or anything. ???
-
Mike, without seeing any pictures ! Have you cleaned the deck before applying , Ed

Yes, you must be doing something wrong. Are you sure the Hypo isn't out of date or just no good?
As for your initial post, just find a local chemical supplier, can't beat it.

I bought some for £20ish just before last xmas. I must still have 1/2 a container left. Its still good for general cleaning/disinfecting.
I'm in need of another container because it would be real weak now.

Yes i cleaned the decking, then applied the hypo, then cleaned again. I clean it every year by just pressure washing it but never get good results. I think maybe it is crap quality stuff as my brother uses hypo and says that it gives off really nasty fumes and that you cant breath near it...however this stuff wasn't like that at all, it just smelt like chlorine.
-
Mike, post some pics . A decent pressure washer alone will revitalize a deck. I personally have never put hypo on a deck only on hard surfaces .Hypo is a fantastic cleaning aid and maybe someone like Roger Oakley may be able to advise ! Ed
-
If you can post some before and after photos? that would help, or even just after photos, and a bit of info on the deck, as it ever been sealed/stained/oiled before? if yes any idea what products were used?
-
Roger, merry Xmas! Do you put hypo on a deck ? Ed
-
He'll want to know what type of decking it is, what mix - just hypo ? Did you use anything to brighten the deck and all other delving technical issues. I just stick to a turbo nozzle at full chat but wear safety glasses ;)

you forgot about using heat... :D
-
Yes but, depends on what you are trying to clean off of the deck.
So that is why photos would help, other chems etc might be needed or help on certain decks.
Carl,
Technical issues to clean a deck? might want to ask the forum grass about that, as it is easy pezey or some people say it is ;)
Matt,
No heat needed on wood, unless you are making walking sticks.

Does anyone know a place around Milton Keynes or Bedford that sells hypo?

Maybe speak to Mike Roberts (Great Outdoors & In). He's in Dunstable.
