I have a Ford Transit t300, SWB, low top, with a 1000 liter Pure Freedom set up, along with two reels, three pumps, one RO booster pump, four poles in their own pipe holders, two trays of tools, the usual selection of spares and window cleaning accoutrements, oh yeah, and a portable toilet seat.
So, with two of us in the cab, how many liters of water do you think I can put into that tank, legally?

12:-)

I'll take a guess at 500ish?

800 litres, if your fuel tank and washer bottle are empty

Would help if you told us the payload of your van.
In my experience PF are not that professional so I am guessing you are over the limit.

3000kg GVW.
Payloads gotta be somewhere around the 1200/1300kg mark...
-
800 ltrs.
-
According to parkers, the 300 swb low roof transit (06 onwards), has a payload of 1297kg. From my own personal experience you probably wouldnt want any more than 850l in there, less if its a 2 man setup. For a 1000l system, you would ideally need a transit 330.

can't wait for the result..

500 ltrs

888L

Ok, with a 1/4 of a tank of fuel, and all of the above, it works out that I can only carry 650 litres.
That's not so much an indication of how much extra stuff I'm carrying, but, rather, more an indication that, for some strange reason, my t300, which number one would presume was indicative of a 3000 kg gross vehicle weight, is in fact, stamped with a 2880 kg GVW, just 80 kg more than a t280 Transit.
I've been robbed!

Wow! If that's all accurate-that's amazing.
Especially the T300 but 2880 bit...
Will it change anything for you?

i was going to say 650 :D

Guessing you have an early transit then 2003 ish....?

My T300 is fine carrying a 650 Litre tank plus kit. But no way would I have chosen this van if I needed a 1000 litre tank. You wont find a short wheel base low top van with the pay load required "I think we need a bigger van" :o

The payload has proven to be a bone of contention; it's somewhere between, 1100 kg and 1250 kg, depending on your information source.
I did fall in love today, though...

How inviting is that!

Looks a clean motor that one.

Darren, 21,000 miles and absolutely pristine! Man, I tell you, this van whispered my name.

What are they new?
Didn't think it'd be much more...? (Though I know nothing about transits)

There are all kinds of deals at the moment, Darren, but all out of my price range.

Dreaming is always nice but sooner or later reality does kick in.
All the best with your quest.

As i have already said, a transit 330 (esp the front wheel drive version, with its 1560kg payload) WOULD manage a 1000l tank. But if that isnt enough, a swb renault master SL35 has a payload of 1691kg, and that would manage easily.

I got caught at a weigh bridge with similar system but a pure freedom 650 litre in my swb transit 04 plate 260 .
This can probably carry 350 litres legally .
Be loads of Wfp people out there massively over
So I bought a TRANSIT T300 , 3000kg GVW . Stamped at that .
57 plate .
-
cause it was under weight doesn't mean that the axle weights where ok ;)

Where can you go to get weighed for free?

One of my customers has a weighbridge, depending on where various tractors or other farm vehicles been parked/abandoned, i have to drive over it to where i park ;)

Hi Neil!
I phoned my local police station and enquired there, with the notion that they would definitely want to take a suspect vehicle to the nearest weighbridge.

My customer is at Ardallie, still a good hour fa Inverurie, and I only had 40kg left (out of my gvw) with a full tank (500l) in my transit connect 230, gave me a shock! :(
