What one are you selling?

I've got a "cherished" number plate on the family car - not on the vans.
Got it by chance - won't post it here cuz I'm paranoid but it's A2 *** and nothing to do with my or my wife's initials.
Basically in about 1999 or 2000 ago I bought a 1992 Rover 420GSI saloon with a personalised numberplate from a widow who was selling her husbands car after he died. He was in the IAM and it was well looked after with leather upholstery and for it's time it was a quick little car with a petrol 2.0 injection engine.
I kept the number plate and transferred it to my next car (Rover 220 diesel and the next another Rover 220 diesel and then put it on retention while I had a Rover 620, a Volvo 340, a Volvo 240 estate and a Honda Accord Aerodeck 2.2i estate) I then transferred it to my Pug 406 estate and now the Suzuki SX4 2.0 DDI.
See, how interesting was that?

What is the best site?
Im looking to get one but not sure without serching loads of sites or do they all search the same?
-
either regtransfers or dvla registrations. Dvla are cheaper than any other site.
-
Like Mr Souter, I have always thought private number plates to be naff, especially the ones where it is supposed to spell out a name, but doesn't (unless you are drunk and standing some distance away).
A long time ago, I used to work for a Saab dealer, the boss was obsessed with private number plates, all the demo's, and the parts van, had plates with some reference to Saab. Unfortunately, due to the combinations of numbers and letters available back then, most just had 'sab'!.
However, a demo's, run by one of the salesmen, had what was in my opinion, the best combination of number plate to car. The car in question was a classic shape Saab 900 turbo 16S, the plate on it was FLY 900T!

From my point of view that is a cost to your business that will never benefit you or earn its money back....
So why?
-
in our village the guy who owns the victoria arms ( pub .not her arms ) has VIC PUB reg
the village is called CWM .a well known snooker player who lives here has the reg .CWM BOY
-
Private plates and some of the more unique ones are very good investments.
The price of plates has only gone up over the years.
From a business view they can make your vans stand out.the pimlico plumbers vans look good round London and it makes people notice them.
-
Iv got P155 OFF

looks flash mate ;)

looks flash mate ;)
Is looking flash a good thing though? I changed insurance broker because the flash twit turned up with a personalized number plate. I mean, I felt I was being ripped off anyway (as I'm sure most of us do when buying insurance), his £1000+ number plate confirmed it for me.
I'd imagine there are customers out there who would think the same way.
-
mine is ;D
US55 UDS.
-
Years ago I lost a job cause 'my' van was being serviced.
Boss lent me his box fresh Vito.
Customer said if you can afford to drive a merc I'm paying you too much.
He dumped me there & then.
While I don't agree with his small market town thinking.
There is a fine line between looking 'flash' and taking pride/being professional.
Where that line is, is very individual.
-
My names Adam and business name is H20 ... So i have "H20 ADX"
Just missed out on "H20000" was only £400:(
-
I think so say private number plates look naff if you ask me.
-
I would say the best window cleaner plate would be... H20 WFP but sadly its taken, have been looking for years

That surprises me.
IF you got a good deal in the first place and IF you haven't had to move it from car to car (i'm sure the dvla charge you each time) too many times. Maybe then you might make some money off it, otherwise I'd have thought all the profit is made by the dealers who buy them off the dvla and sell them on.
-
No, we have got brains.
