Hi all
I've picked up some rugs from a customer and while I was there she asked me why the carpet underneath the rug had gone a slight shade a yellow ???
By the way the rug has been there for 2 years, no signs of sun damage etc
Told her I would find out, help would be appreciated and something new learned .
regards
Steve

It's something to do with the rubber underlay which releases a gas and discolours the carpet under the rug.
I did one yesterday for a regular custy. take up the rug and it's yellow underneath.
Pretty common and not much you can do.

No it's the underlay gassing off ::)roll
Rugs don't gass but underlay does.

Good link Mike.
Also you will find that a rubber matt positioned on the entrance of an Amtico vinyl floor will turn the floor yellow.
I've seen this happen also. Amtico advise that no rubber mats should be laid on their floors. Obviously it is something to do with a chemical released which causes discolouration.
As always, not your problem but theirs. ;)
