Title: Random acts of kindness....
Post by: Clever Forum Name on December 11, 2013, 06:29:13 pm
After finishing my last house for the day I got chatting to a lovely old dear who was passing by. We talked about everything under the sun while I packed my gear away. Her last comment stuck in my head. " I will think of you when I am waiting for the bus here tomorrow ". I was quite shocked and asked why? All she said was its such a depressing place to wait.

On leaving to go home, I turned the corner and came across her bus stop by her house. It was quite obvious why it is a depressing place to wait.

I wish I could see her face tomorrow.

Its not about promoting my business it about being Human. I think we all get caught up in the rat run. I will go to sleep tonight knowing I am going to make somebody smile tomorrow without even seeing her.

Just ONE act of random kindness could make someone's day!!!

Well done Pure!

It's tiny little sparks of altruistic benevolence like this, Sir, that are set to start the fire that will cleanse the word.  :)

There definitely jobs for pressure washers.

Better finish with the pole though. When your only getting £7.50 per bus shelter you lose the motivation for a perfect clean. :)

Karma, what goes around, comes around, good for you.

Not always; well not according to Buddhism (or real life).  Bad things happen to good people all the time.  Buddhism explains this as 'poo happens', which is a bit more realistic than the Bible's explanation (the book of Job), which is just mental.

I was cleaning a house on a high street with my trolley the other week and the woman next door laughingly said, "Mine are filthy, fancy doing em for free". She disappeared inside and while she was away inside I did them for her. I packed the gear away and off I went feeling all warm inside lol.

Last year I used my Chrimbo tips to buy food for the local foodbank and to be fair i'm happy to do extras. Here in Wales there are lots of chapels (as opposed to churches). They are pretty big affairs usually, with 4 huge windows on each side. I've done 4 or 5 for free now, along with the odd village hall.

I'm not saying i've saved the world or anything, just to say that it gives a really nice feeling and you should give it a bash - it's great to be able to give something back into the community that provides you with what I have to say is a damned good living.

I've got some stuff that needs taking to the tip.  Fancy doing it for me for free?  E-mail me at tosh@gayjapladyboy.co.uk and I'll give you the details.

You know there's a term known as 'idiot compassion'?

you will probably get a "invoice "from the bus company or council and a stern letter from the solicitors / health and safety, council property, etc telling you off...and then you will get on the Jeremy vine show on radio 2  ;D and end up doing morrisons for free ;)

I'll always try to help someone if it's appropriate. I think charity or free help always has to be according to time, place and circumstance.

I'd never clean someones house for nothing and for free. If they gave something in return, what ever that is and again, if appropriate then fair enough but for free?

Nope.

Nice things to do.
The church ain't exactly church mice though.
Just cause they all need a new roof don't mean they're brassic.

The book of Job, is about one particular man. Seems to me the bible's view is better expressed in the book of Ecclesiastes 9. verse 11. "the swift do not always win the race, nor do the mighty win the battle, nor do the wise always have the food etc etc(paraphrase)...because time and unexpected events overtake them all"  As you wisely say 'poo happens'

What you've given is a description of reality, it is not an explanation of why bad things happen to good people.  Or even why good things happen to bad people (I fall into this latter category).  Based on my experiences, I can assure you there is no God of Justice; if there was, I wouldn't be here.

From my understanding, The Book of Job is the EXPLANATION (not just a description of reality) of why bad things happen to good people, and I've read it closely, and it's mental.
