Title: Sick
Post by: 8weekly on December 09, 2013, 06:52:55 am
I woke up with fluey symptoms yesterday morning that got worse through the day (still managed to watch little one's football match). My first job booked for today is a retired GP. He was the only one I needed to text, so I sent the text on the off chance I would be fully recovered. Doubtless when I text to say "under the weather" he will assume it is a hangover.

But although I am not desperate for the money, I do feel guilty at not working. All day I will be thinking I should have gone. Especially once the paracetamol have kicked in and I feel better.

Enjoy life
Take the kids to school
Go home and recover
Pick the kids up
Chill out
If your unwell , why worry , there's always tomorrow . Or the day after .

Why feel guilty for not working of your poorly , we're obsessed with working .

Enjoy your recovery .

In a nutshell are the voices on my shoulders. On the one Franky saying "Man up you tart, I ran a marathon with a broken leg" and on the other Kempy's soothing words. "Take it easy fella, you work hard, look at porn online all day. You're worth it"   ;D

why do you "assume" he ll think its a hangover?just take the day off if your really not well.

i woke up first week in jan all ready to go work after the xmas holidays and felt really ill.proper old skool flu which ive not had for around 15 years now.i spent 3 days watching the first 3 series of "breaking bad"(a series a day!)feet up on sofa. ;D

we all have plans but sometimes we have to have a few days off.

im still in pain with a rib injury from 4 weeks ago.still blasted through loads of work the last few weeks.im taking most of this week off.a days work on friday before last onslaught before xmas next week.

i need to get my debt list down so im off collecting tonight and do a bit of xmas shopping this week anyway.

this is what i love about window cleaning.being your own boss.FREEDOM!to choose what days to work.

ive found if ive just got a cold its better to be out working rather than sat at home but proper flu no way!

regards

I work with a cold, but aching joints is just horrible. Anyway, as predicted once pain killers kicked in I felt up to getting out of bed. So I had a bath and went out to quote for three new ones. Picked up two and not interested in third as it is a rented house and access is through garage. My spidey senses were tingling as well.

Being self-employed why risk catching the flu?

Each year around the end of October I get down to Boots/Morrisons or whoever is doing the flu jabs. Costs £10-£15. Pretty good value cos if you get flu (proper not just Man Flu) you won't be earning for a few days AND you'll feel completely $hit...

Good point, but I don't have flu. I actually could have the jab for free, but I don't take it.

Thanks, yes. I feel fine now. Not a completely wasted day as I did 4 quotes in the end and got 3 new jobs. Feel a bit of a skiver tbh.
