What is the voltage at the battery?

If you have good voltage check the fuse and replace if needed next cables for damage or loose connections replace any worn or rusted connectors.
Does the pump run direct from the battery? if you bypass the control?

How old is the unit? Is it possible you have reversed the polarity when connecting the battery?

The more info you can give the easier it will be to advise

We were once called out to a 'dead' lorry only to find the battery had been nicked.  ;D
