DONT EVER BUY A CHEAP BATTERY!
Its like expecting the cheapo chinese batteries in a kids toy to last the same length as duracell. IT DOESNT HAPPEN.
Sorry for the shouting.
Your battery runs the system that earns you your money, spend as much as you can on one.

Was it a vehicle battery? Or leisure?
I tried to get a warranty replacement on a battery from Halfords and they wouldn't honor it because it wasn't used 'in the manner intended'
Dunno if Unipart would be as strict though...
+1 on the cheap battery post.
I bought a 110ah at a 'bargain' price.
It was poop within 18 months.

any more recommendation?

I found Lucas ones seem to last well compared to others I've used (as in lifespan of battery)

I also bought a cheap 110ah battery and the same thing. I'd used a Halfords 90ah battery before that and that lasted very well for 4 1/2 years before it became useless.
I'll probably buy my next one from Halfords going on the previous experience.

Hi Dave
Is this your experience from the Auto Electrical trade?
I noticed this on the 135amph leisure battery page.
"This battery is part of the new range of Xplorer leisure batteries designed for long life and deep discharging @ 50%. "
Manufacturers usually give a number of 'deep discharge cycles' down to 20%. After all 50% isn't much at all and will give a good life. They also don't quote the number discharge/recharge cycles. This begs the next question. How do they 'police' the warranty? 4 years, WOW.
Just looking at the website is enough for me not to buy one of their batteries TBH.

Hi I posted the alpha battery page as it had a bit more info on regarding the Banner range.
Banner batteries are excellent, I had one replaced with a month only left on its warrenty. No questions asked.
They really are reliable.
Personally I run WITHOUT a split charger now. I Just have a 'good' car battery that charges via the vans alternator. Never remove to charge and never had a van starting issue.I find the car battery is more receptive to the type of charging my set up produces, i.e irregular intervals and in short spurts.
ps. oak road supply them too!
