Good time of year?
Bad time of year?
I think it should be good. ;D
-
I started up in November 2005. Spent the November. January. February and March canvassing like mad. I remember being freezing cold some days just plodding the streets canvassing - but it got me started ;)
-
I have done an hour and a half of leafleting and am looking forward to the results.

don't take on any new work in December so a no from me

Out of choice ??

A roller coaster of a month for me. Lost a £14k/year contract (2nd biggest but best hourly) and gained a £8k/year contract almost the next day.
Domestic have picked up 4 x £15 jobs and lost 1 x £12.

yep, look after my loyal customers who looked after me all year
tell any new customer will have to wait to jan or feb or when next back around
-
Any TIPS for me Franky? ;D
-
yes if they wait until the new year then they are going to be good customers
turn down today a mum and daughter both wanted gutter facia windows and conny roof clean roughly £110 each
told them the same,we see if they call back in the new year :D
-
Surely you could of squeezed them in?
-
i dont turn work down no matter what time of year, if we can do it we will, picked up a fair amount of extra work in the last few weeks and done them, plus 4 quotes going out tomorrow, will be done next week or week after if we get any of them,
-
I agree with franky, that said if you need work take it, but long term franky is spot on
-
What does 'need' mean?
-
What does 'need' mean?
If you require it to pay your bills. :)
If you are comfortable now then December customers are usually just after a one off clean, may cancel in the new year.
If you have spare time though then why not. Unless you want to spend more time arta home. That's good to do this time if the year.
-
New 'regular' customer tonight, been begging for over a week for me to clean.
I say 'it's direct debit or twice the price for first clean'
Text in tonight 'my husband thinks we're better off until the building work finishes before we arrange a clean'
Do you now?!
Close call for me tbh. She's a friend if an existing customer, nearly went, charging low(ish) and it'd turned out to be a 1 off!
-
Think i wont bother then! waste of time this December thing!

Not at all.
You may get a lot of one offs but some people are desperate.
Get paid in cleared funds before you start and 3x regular price.
Could be a money spinner if you've got the time
-
There's still plenty of work out there, I'm still canvassing.
-
Im picking up around 12-16 new customers per week
The customers that u pick up in the winter are the best customers

A week?! Fair play to you fella.
-
I don't like windows anymore so turn down new work all year round.
-
same as franky.any new work will be cleaned in january.looking after regular customers(some as long standing as 20 years)is top priority.
i picked up a £30 job yesterday.i could fit her in next week but id rather have some time off xmas shopping.
i had an ex customer who ive not cleaned for around 5 years now approach me the other day as well.her windows are absolutely filthy!she said "do you think you can clean our windows as a one off?"i said "yeah no problem but itll have to be in jan as im too busy at the moment".she just walked off! ::)roll ;D
if your new or not well established and you need more work clean everything in sight!!i did!
-
Your not going to get 2 vans out full with work unless you do round build whenever you get the chance.
9 out of 10 customers yiu pick up in december wont be after just an xmas clean and to find out who say you wont be able to clean them untill new year! If they are fine with you saying that then say actually i can squeeze you in this month... Job done.
You should be leafletting/canvassing every chance you get if you are serious about growing. As rocky balboa would say and what i use for everything i do, have the "eye of the tiger" and stay focused untill you have reached your goal!.

i bunker down for the winter

I'm building for next Spring. Writing solar panel cleaning articles for publishing in various solar magazines. This drives a decent amount of fresh traffic to the website, raises awareness of the need for cleaning, people then ring and enquire about the service and we get the jobs booked in. Not sure how I'm going to get my windows done or driveways cleaned in May due to having virtually everyday booked with solar.
Plant in the winter to reap in the summer......... ;)
-
