Looking at another van but just so undecided.
What are the issues with a ford transit. Looking at 2009 - 2012 model. Is it just rust?
I was dead keen on the vivaro but seen to many stories online.
I know every van will have issues, but just seems to be a tad more with the vivaro.
Waiting for the " I have a vivaro and its fine lol"
Anything i have over looked. Transit - Vivaro - T5
???
-
I have the Trafic. 2nd one. And it's been great.
Last one was perfect up to 90k-issues after that though tbh.
If I could afford it-hands down the Transporter Sportline 180.
What a beauty.
-
I had the traffic really good van but as you say there's someone out there that have had problems with. I've now got the new transit custom trend, really good van to can't go wrong with a ford as parts are there on the shelf. The only thing with the foreign vans parts can take time to get. VW are good van to. Had a Scudo wouldn't rate it not the 5 speed and customer service crap.ind you the traffic, Vauxhall & Nissan are exactly the same I'd go for the Nissan think there cheaper with more extras !!! Scudo, Peugeot & Citreon are the same but would stay clear of them. Personally I'd go for a transit my Opinion. 👳👳👳
-
Hmmmmmm
problem is 10k will get me an 90 -110K vw t5 2008-2009 I don't think that makes good business sense.
2009 transit with 30k would be 9k or less!
I think i am looking at the transit, just wondered if they are bad for wfp?
we do have a transit but she is old bless her lol
-
I had a transit 2005 model which ate starter motors on a regular basis until it got bored with that and decided to start p issing fuel from its pump just to annoy me £1300 to fix so got my revenge and ebayed it ... hopefully the later ones are better as will be getting bigger van next year.
NV200 Nissan any good 750KG payload from memory
-
Hyundai iload - 5 yr warranty - 1060kg payload. Had mine 18 months. Luvly.
-
Sorry should have said.
Need a min payload of 1200kg
Yeah looked at the i models. My mum has i10 and it's great!!
Yep done a starter motor already!
But this van wouldn't be that shape.
May have a look online at reviews :)
-
As far as I can see, I think the Toyota Hiace comes out fairly reliable. Check out the reviews
http://www.roadtestreports.co.uk/road-test-reports/Toyota/Hiace/
-
They are crap! Mine blew a lightbulb this year.
-
All vans have some bad reviews lol !!!
I'd put the wedge you have down on a decent newish or new one and have rest on book only be a couple of sheccles a month extra !!!! 👳👳👳
-

yup and if your clever you can get ex demos or pe reg jobs with just a 100 miles on the clock for much less then list price
-
Hmmmm could look at that I guess.
Got fed up with jumping through hoops on leasing. Coz of the mods I have planned. So sod it not leasing now.
It's just for work tho, but yeah could do down to ford again.

we ran over 25 vans when doing the dhl, city link . work and we never looked back buying new vans ,ok there not cheap but try keeping an old van on the road and paying people to do it let alone the down time its a night mare
save as much as you can for the deposit lowering monthly payments , get a bank loan rather then h.p its cheaper even better if your family can lend you it ,
get on the net there 1000s of dealers wanting to do you a deal so if you have the time there are some good deals to be had , and this months the best time to buy a van most dealers are sat looking at the xmas trees
-
buy new, i'd go for a trafic 2900 with air con, 1250kg payload is enough
-
Yep Susan's right, if you can get ex demo would be cheaper and still new. 👳👳👳
-
Buying new is like double the money I have lol, I will
Enquire at Ford.
New vivaro is out next year along with T6 so wouldn't go new route on either of them.
-
I have an 06 transit with 39k on the clock.
Great van, to avoid the rust get the floor, sills, chassis, wheel arches under sealed with waterproof waxy oil and jobs a good one.
-
do you do a lot of miles in your van mate?
my work is mainly within 6 miles.very compact ive also got a 2.5 v6 car for leisure so i dont see the point in buying new.
i do 2500-3000 a year in my van.its a kangoo and cost me £1400 nearly 4 years ago and now has 140,000 miles on the clock.ive spent hardly anything on it apart from new clutch, cambelt and back axle.spent about £700 in 4 years on it.
its been a great little van but need a bigger one next year.
i just dont wanna spend big on a van for work.id rather go on holiday and dine out in fancy restaurants!! ;D

Less than 10,000 miles a year inc personal mileage. I am moving next year tho to be within my round, so mileage could be as low as 5000 a year :)
-
I would suggest the toyota hi-ace, you have a choice of the 300 (lwb), which has a payload of over 1200kg, and the 280 (swb), most versions have a 1135kg payload. The reliability is legendary (bear in mind, the hi-ace is mechanically nearly identical to the hi-lux pickup they unsuccessfully tried to 'kill' on top gear!). Usefully narrower than transit/vivaro, and rear wheel drive gives good traction without the very high load floor of rear drive transits.
-

This is exactly what I've got!
Sport.
Box fresh.
They can be had for £14k if you argue the toss.

Do you know any spec details?

Well its all just rumours. Most German mags are saying 2014/2015.
The most up to date report was this one

Oh!!!! It's like van porn.
224PS and 4Motion!
Bye bye GTI's and boy racers in their gay Type R's.
And it looks like it sitting on 22's.
Cancel everything-I need to get saving.
I liked the T5 but (if) the T6 looks anything like that I'll be a very happy boy.

They can be had for £14k if you argue the toss.
When i go to renault site, they start from like 22K where am i going wrong ???

That's list price.
Ring a dealer.
Autotrader-click new vans.
The absolute best way to get your best price is take the time to find every Renault dealer in the country. There aren't actually that many. There may be 20 'Smiths Renault' spread across an area.
I mean different named dealers.
You tell them exactly what you want. A list of non-negotiables and a list of 'likes'
Tell the dealer you want a price by x o clock on x date.
You want their best price.
ALL OF THEM will say, "we can match any price". If they can match a price then they should offer that initially.
Be clear and firm, you will take their one price, no haggling, no negotiating a 'service deal' and all the other BS they try.
You will get a list of about 20 dealers I'd think.
All offering (to all intents and purposes) exactly the same van.
Go with your best price.
If you want to make it more fun.
Try Nissan & Vauxhall.
Vauxhall are the cheapest.
Renault midrange.
Nissan most expensive.
They're all made by Nissan with only minor ancillary parts by the others.
That changes next year though I believe.
-
Thanks for the advice, will give that a go. We have a local renault near me i think two. SO will pop in,show them your reply and say " GIMME GIMME GIMME " LOL
Seriously i will pop in, thanks :)

Play it cool.
If it's your local one, play the angle of you'll be bringing it back for servicing where they'll make even more out if you!
Only mention that to haggle the last drop out of blood out of them once they have matched the lowest price you've had from across the uk.
-
;D LOL
I would prefer a vauxall tho.
Only coz i drive one now,and had them in the past. All been awesome vehicles!
So may try it in vaux land :D
-
They are slightly cheaper too.
Like someone said, now is the time. No-one is buying vans ATM...

Just cause its Christmas.
Cars-perhaps, a car could make a nice present.
Vans ain't shifting though.
I organized buying mine December 2011, collected January 2012.
Got mine for about £15k.
-
If you are happy to spend £14k, there is currently on autotrader, a fiat scudo 12Q (1200kg payload) with the 163bhp engine. 59 miles, £13900+vat. That will be a pretty swift van!, and i'm sure you could knock that price down a bit.
-
I have heard the current transit suffer from injector problems

Small alteration :)
Renault make the vans and they are rebadged as Vauxhall and Nissan. But Nissan has a major share holding in Renault.

Not on the info I found.
And the fact that there are Nissan badges on everything under the bonnet & battery.
Not a 'fact' as such, just what I found out while researching for mine.
The 2014 models are going to be made by Vauxhall and rebadged from what I found but mine is the mk3 I think...
-
Wow . The T6 looks fantastic
Very small gross vehicle weight , legally probably only take about 400 litres
-
Vivaro shape aint gonna happen.
Payloads are just not enough for what i need :(
-
I have transit T300 medium roof medium wheel base
So 3000kg gross vehicle weight , so my 650 pure freedom system is one legal .
My other transit swb 260 was over the limit and I got off , so bought the above van
-
Well the system is 850L so a 300 transit would be a no no.
Looking at the 330 or 350 tranists now.
Might just say **** it and go buy a new un :D
-
T350 you need
-
Personally i have never been that keen on the primastar/traffic/vivaro, but just so you know, if you look on the autotrader new vans section, you will get the higher payload version of the Nissan, as a short wheel base, for less than what has been mentioned earlier, Bristol street commercial's have them from £12199. But if you are now thinking of even higher payload, then look up Peugeot boxer, you will find buyacar.co.uk offering the 333 version (that is 1455kg payload) from £11976.
-
They are crap! Mine blew a lightbulb this year.
Must. Be a common fault my side light bulb went last year 100,000 miles and cost me a bulb so its got to go.

WOW! That's opened a can of worms! Thanks for the advice/tips. Just been looking at new custom transits as well now. So many choices lol

Chronology
Predecessor Renault Estafette
The current Trafic resulted from a joint venture between German Opel, Japanese Nissan and French Renault. It is also sold as an Opel Vivaro, Vauxhall Vivaro and by Nissan as the Primastar.
Designed by Renault's corporate design department based within the company's Technocentre outside Paris, the Trafic was developed by the engineering team of Renault's light commercial vehicle unit at Villiers-Saint-Fréderic. Manufactured by GM Manufacturing Luton at its plant in Luton—beside Primastar and the Vivaro—the Trafic was the first Renault vehicle to be built in the United Kingdom in more than 30 years.[5][6]
In an agreement between Renault and Nissan, versions of the van are also manufactured at Nissan's plant in Barcelona, Spain.[7]
The van exists in several versions, from a 3-seater with all the rear space available for loads, to a 9-seater. Its name is based on the French word for "trade" or "traffic" (depending on the context).
The van was designed by Renault in Paris, and both Renault and Opel versions are manufactured by Vauxhall at their plant in Luton.[7] In 2012, UK production of the Vivaro totalled 36,982 and 16,483 for the Renault Trafic.[8]
A mild facelift in 2006 saw the orange indicators swapped for clear ones more integrated into the headlamp housings. On the Vauxhall and Opel models, the indicators moved from the front bumpers, up into the headlamp housings, thus looking more similar to the Renault."
This same situation applies to other vans. The Citroen Relay and Peugeot Boxer are made by Fiat in Italy which are dirivatives of the Fiat Ducato.
PSA make the Dispatch and Expert in France which is rebadged as a Fiat Scudo.
Vauhall are also rebadging the Fiat Dobolo as their Combo.
Some of the 'genuine' parts I have bought for my Citroen Relay have come in Peugeot packaging.
