ive just had a letter advising that i will be having a water meter fitted in the next few weeks.
by the way im wfd and have an ro fitted
for those that have a water meter,did you notice a big increase on your bill after it was fitted ?
i read other posts on getting another meter fitted so you dont then pay for waste water,is this
the way to go ? do they charge you more for water if using for business.
any help and advice is much appreciated

You can get a rebate for water not returned to sewer - your sewerage charge is quite a proportion of the total bill.
Some water companies insist on a separate meter some don't - Yorkshire Water for instance and they don't charge business rate for domestic house!
Best give them a call.

Have a look on Southern Water's website. They have all their tarrifs on there. You need to use an awful lot of water before they put you on a commercial tarrif.
We were put on a meter because they said they'd noticed we were using water for commercial purposes. This was five years after I told them!!
I don't purifiy water anymore but while we did it only made a small difference.

thanks for that will ask them,but will i be opening a can of worms if i tell them what i use the water for ?also if they dont fit another meter how will they know how much water i use for window cleaning ? many thanks

Hi Kempy!
In your calculation, what would 20,000 litres a month work out at? That's 500 litres per day usage, that took 1,000 litres a day to produce, at a 50/50 pure to waste ratio. Ballpark figure will be just fine. :)

southern water are a pain in the butt to deal with,get a meter now and start taking notes od daily use. They have estimates for min and max use per family size, and are trying there hardest to get me to pay more.
I'm still in talks with them ,but I am getting there slowly :P

My friends calculated his to be around £10 per 1000L of pure water, that included waste as well. He is using a boosted pump and i think a 300GPD R/O

So for a 1000L of pure he wastes another 2000L So 3000L of water to make a 1000L
So with that i will be be 100% looking at a 40/40 and recycling the waste into another 40/40
:D

Good lord, a fiver a day in water! I'm not on a meter at the moment, but I guess it's just a matter of time.

The issue is the waste mate, thats the problem!
1000L of pure and then 2000L of waste. Thats alot.
We are not on a water metering and *cough* have several RO machines constantly going. We reduced the flow and create water at about 6PPM at the moment its 3PPM
I think for 1L of pure its 5L of waste i kide ye not!!!!

Crikey Pure! Well, at least you'll save on not having to fork out on resin if you ever have to go on a meter in the future.
