Title: indentations removal??
Post by: cleanability on March 15, 2006, 01:10:08 pm
Can long standing indentations from furniture on carpets be reversed? People always mention the use of ice. If they can, then how?

Thanx

Chris

Chris,

Water will lift some indentations , particularly on good quality wool carpets with a hessian backing.

Ice is just a way of getting water in the right place but hot water  , as Lee says will work better.

Synthetic carpets where the pile has been crushed will not lift.

Cheers

Doug

You can lift the dent of the carpet pile, but not if the underlay is crushed. Then you have to replace the crushed section of underlay

Not forgetting that the backing on the carpet will have stretched, making it almost impossible to rectify

As I've said many times this can sometimes be rectified by using some stiff plastic material beneath the carpet.
