Spoke to new custy. She said she wants the old fashioned way. Taken on some ladder work recently to help get through winter so said I will ladder and squeegee. She say no way I don't want all that soapy water on my windows my last wc done it properly with a shammy and cloth!!!
What's worse she had spanking new UPVC!!! Believe it or not I feel it's a bit of a personal challenge, should I get a leather and give it a go or is that just ridiculous?

if you want to be on the house forever, you know that customers a complete plank so why would you take her on, also im not being funny, but the reason you are wfp is for saftey, so if its too cold and icy for wfp what makes you think it would be fine to use a ladder

You don't need to get a leather, just use a damp scrim and a perfectly dry scrim just like you do with leaded windows.

i simply wouldnt take her on!why dont you say" look i have a wfp system let me show you how good it is"."let me clean your windows with it and when their dry if you not happy with the finish dont pay me!"
ive used this line on a few customers who were sceptical about wfp or previously had a window cleaner who did a bad job with it.they are all now good solid regular customers.
dont let the customer dictate what method to use.the proof is in the pudding.

Ah so...but sensei tosh, you assume my current mental state is one of sanity...you above all should know that to assume makes an ass of you and me! ;)

You just assumed that I assumed you were sane! I didn't; no-one is sane; Carl Jung said 'show me a sane man and I'll cure him' which infers we're all mental to some degree.
But if you took her on, you're mental (more than just a degree). And if this is a wind-up, you ought to leave the humour to those who're capable of being funny and stop drinking the bong water.

When the fella comes around to replaster her house do you think she goes " I want it done the old fashioned way with wattle and daub (cow sh#t and straw) ... prob not .... nor does she still use a mangle and washboard .... nor does her old man take a tin bath in front of the coal fire once a month whilst watching one of their 3 channels on a black an white TV.
.................. if yes to any of the above she will try and pay you in old money possibly ;D

Give them a free clean then ask them whats wrong with the way you have cleaned them.

Use to cloth dreaded leaded's 1st thing on a cold winter's morning to get nice and warm when trad ! Definitely no scrimming anymore, rather use warmish water and gloves on

I'd do them exactly how she wants them doing to be fair, the customer is always right!!
She pays you, so you work for her, if she wanted you to useca toothbrush you should!
I'd also get paid two bob and a conker, and when i'd finished, i'd make sure i took my bottle of white lightening out the basket of my bicycle to tickle my taste buds while i ride to catch the early bird special down the local...

I cleaned a EOT clean this week-WFP.
She was happy with them.
Just had their new place built c.£3m I'd guess.
Had wooden frames & painted. Lovely little Georgian ones.
Said she wants trad as the brush 'takes the paint off the window' her husband told her.
I said no problem. It'll be £100 trad or £50wfp.
OP-if you have the time and inclination, clean however the customer asks and estimate cost on your usual hourly rate.
I could guess that the leather method would take 3 times as long (I'm guessing though)
Tell her it'll be (say) £10 WFP with a clean guarantee.
Or £30 with a leather.

No joke. Some old shiners I know reckon they were as quick with a shammy as we are with a squeegee. Which is why I felt it to be a challenge.

Never really cared for Jung. He was very wordy in my opinion. Forest gump on the other hand, now he knew what it was all about... :P

Do them off the ladder but charge twice as much , be sure to tell her before you start.
I used to be soft like you but you soon snap out of it after a few cleans off the ladders,
ladders are for Amateurs ;D

The German firms over here train the new lads on shop windows with cloth and chamois. On the mall square Georgian type jobs that need ins and outsides, they have no choice. Years ago when I first started, we had a dye cloth factory with windos like that. Took 3 of us a week to complete, and after an hour or so, your arms felt like they would fall off!! :( Must have been Hell before squeegies or WFP came along.
