Title: texting night before
Post by: Suffolkcleaners on November 27, 2013, 10:33:50 pm
Hi guys,

Most my customers pay either on the day or online banking with a small percentage sending cheques..... however I wanted any feedback on the idea of texting the customers the night before and getting them to leave money in a secure place ie;under plant pot or in shed. This is mainly for the slow payers as years ago I used to collect but I hate that. Do you think it's reasonable to ask the customer to leave money out if I text the night before?  :)

I do that for a few.

Don't see why not. It means you get your cash on the day so even better.

constantly late payers and some of those who insist on paying by cash only tend to become bad payers that aren't worth bothering with come the end when its time to call it a day after persistently chasing them for money

This is true but I dont see it as a reason not to do it. For me its a trade off, sure I get the odd "can you leave it please" but for the time saved not having to vault gates, chase money and such its worth it.

I do that with quite a lot of my customers (oddly though, it seems to be specific areas!?), some is for the purpose of leaving money out, others it is for leaving gates unlocked. It can be a pain remembering, but overall it works fine by me.

Texting is easy with the beta program i'm trying cleaner planner.

I can select all the customers that need reminding on a job sheet and sms them all at once.

Done this recently on more distant jobs for those who don't bank online or have a cheque book.
Some forget so have to double up next time or go back and collect anyway.
Some have seen it as a pain and can't be bothered still expect us to call back and collect at night on the off chance that they are in - now dropped!!!!!

seriously guys its good to text some customers mainly for access.it helps the day run smoother but obviously if your getting them texting back "not today" too often then dump them.

i find its ALWAYS the same ones that are late payers.luckily its only a very small percentage.i can live with that.we all have a certain amount of rolling debt.

I text or call every domestic customer
After a lot of training on dumping the "leave us this time" Gang
All gate are left open and get paid 90% of the time
On the clean

Works for me, but it's taken a lot  of people getting dumped tho

Call me mad but I don't really mind late payers aslong as they do pay.

I've got customers who regularly pay me in six months blocks. People are busy and just forget.

I don't let that stop me from taking their money. :)

Aslong as I'm not out of pocket it's fine.

No.

No no no.

No no no no no.

Nien non nee NO!

Don't get people to leave money under plant pots. One day you will go and it won't be there (their kid might nick it or they might forget), then you will end up losing the customer- with them thinking you are dishonest.

Get them to pay via internet banking. Less risk - more professional.

I do call a few but out of 300 its only about 10 or less a month.  I hate collecting and am working on moving them to gocardless next year.
