well today was a lot colder than yesterday morning and leaving the heater on min was no good.water at brush end was still coldish.hose was like wire so turned it up a notch and water coming out brush end was warm(but not lukewarm or hot)just right.hoses nice and warm and supple and nice steam on glass! ;D
do you guys turn your heater up in colder weather to reach a warm temp at brush end?

Turned ours down a bit, so not to break the glass ?

I adjust my heater daily, and during the day, according to the temperature

what i mean is yesterday my water was coming out at brush end warm with temp on min but today to get the same temp at brush end i had to turn the heater up a bit.

Turn mine high ish to build heat up in hose then Reduce when hoses have warmed up

I suppose theres a few variants that alter the water temp at the brush.
Initial water temp before heater
Ground temp where hose is laid out
Amount of hose on the ground
Etc

Do you have thermobore Dazmond?
I was working in -5.5 at 8 am this morning, and with everything on minimum, so it was 24 degrees out the boiler and Luke warm at the brush head. Steam on the glass and definitely hot enough for me.
To be safe you are supposed to go no higher then 20degress from the ambient temperature, so I did a check last thing of the day....
......it was 0.5 degrees c outside, 24 degrees out the boiler and I checked the temperature at the brush head and it was 16 degrees. That's plenty hot for me.

yes jonny i have thermobore on my reel.water was warm to the touch once i turned it up but not hot or lukewarm.just right for keeping the hose nice and soft.good for warming the hands up when gathering it up!ive noticed it warms the pole up as well! ;D
as for cracking glass when the temperature drops below freezing when working im probably better just to have lukewarm at brush end i suppose.

I'm noticing my gas says a lot longer as I'm only using minimum heat setting.

That's nothing - I've noticed it gets to minus twelve in south dorset and they still work in it. There's some tough windy's on this forum!

minus 12 in south dorset? when? are you sure? I live in East devon and the winter is quit mild here

Where do you live?
Central Scotland mate. 25 miles south of Glasgow.
There's certain villages where I am that get the cold more than most. Surrounding fields etc.
Two winters ago at 10 am it was -20 in an area I work in. I didn't have hot water then so safe to say no work got done that day. :)

Immersion here. Tank water 25/28 degrees = supple hoses. Not sure what it is at the brush. (16/20 depending on the hose run and time of day?)
All I want is supple hoses and little chance of glass breaking.

Think I'll adopt the 24 degrees rule when it's frosty .
What's point any higher
This saves gas
Still cleans the glass
Still get paid the same
I'm at 40 at the very most
But usually 30 is my temperature , but once it gets to 0 degrees or less then it's boiler on 0 for me .
I cleaned mine with it on 60 once and was ok , but hearing on and it was well above freezing conditions
To crack glass depends on a lot of variants
