Any thoughts/comments people?
Need a bigger van and been offered the chance of one of these. Looks good in the pictures but would like some honest opinions.

I had one a few years back
Piece of poop, slow, noisey, thirsty, rusty, engine under seats so hard to work on.
There cheap for a reason

That is because they have so little power, you have to drive it with your foot nailed to the floor, all the time!. I believe the 2.3d had about 70bhp, but you also got a 2.0d for those who were in even less of a hurry!.
These were also sold for a little while badged as an ldv cub.

Had a payload of around 1000kgs and had twin loading side doors. They were great 15 years ago as there wasn't much else - bit of a niche market.
As per previous posters, leave it back in 1999. Heavy on fuel, slow and engine under seats means daily checks are never done (dipstick under one seat and oil filler cap under the other. Nightmare.
It was known as a Nissan Cargo Vanette.

I had one when first starting out 4 years ago when trad only ... tbh there not that bad and if its cheap enough eh hundreds not thousands then prob worth a go even it it self destructs after 18 months

Nissan Vanette, ahh those were the days! Then I bought a real van.
Good torque though never thought I had anything in it even with a full load, but then again, was that because it felt like a full load with nothing in it.

The 2.3 diesel engine will live on long after the body work has rusted away. ;D
Seriously the engines are pretty much bullet proof, but they are very underpowered and slow!

I have to say the guys love the Vanette ( ldv cub ) excellent load capacity 2 side doors and long enough to take gardiners poles without going into the cab area.
A little snug for 2 men but carries a 600 ltr tank no problem and found it's very good on fuel well over 35 to the gallon.
I found a one owner 60k on the clock, FSH, no rust no dents.
Yes a lot of bad ones about and they are not fast, but hey your window cleaning not qualifying for a formula 1 race.

Cheers chaps, the one on offer is 75,000 miles, FSH and looks in very good condition. He is asking less than a grand for it but have a few days to think about it.

if the bodywork is good,and the price is ok then i would think about it,we have had two and tbh wish i could buy a new one,noisy yes,gutless,yes but turn up in the morning turn the key-it just goes-simples,now got a swb transit and tbh not much more room inside,it is from the 90's as people say,but kylie minogue's still looking good,i would give it serious thought if it is cheap enough

I had a ldv cub, was a great van and served me well, noisy and slow but as said bullet proof, i had no probs at all in the 3 years i had it.
