Lets here some of your views on which way is more efficient to set up your twin 4040 RO, heres 2 set ups from 2 well know companies

Hi Steve,
Didnt have time to watch the gardiner video, 30 minutes of my life that i will never get back, although i have a 4040 twin setup that i bought from June at gapswater and set it up how she told me to, it has been running very efficiently for a couple of years without a problem and regarding resin usage i dont even bother to buy it nowadays the maximum tds after ro is about 4 but mostly around 2 or 3. June is a filtration specialist , i would and have followed her setup advice.

How did you set it up?
I think the question is wether its better to plumb the waste from first membrane into the second membrane for less waste or to plumb them in parallel for more litres per minute .

Sorry Steve didn't see your reply no I havnt got a 4040 I've got the 450gpd ro which I'm replacing with a 4040 after Christmas. Fed up with this ro taking 3 days to fill up. The only thing I don't know is fitting a cut out to stop the pump and water, at the mo I've got an electronic seloniod on my machine which does this but won't be no good with the new pump I will get. I can put a balcock on which will stop the water but the pump will keep going will will be a bugger as I will have to keep eye on machine and try not to forget to turn pump off when I get the 4040

Danny , you can get a 240v pressure switch for your booster pump so that when your ballcock or solenoid stops the water it will sense the pressure buildup and switch off the pump .
Or if you want to spend lots of dose i think liquid logic do an electronic R/O controller that does the same job - cuts the pump and the water and also monitors two tis readings and water temp for your static system.

Danny, this is a superb set up. We use it, and I never need to do anything other than backwash once in a while.
Saved me so much time and therefore money. Takes all the stress out of forgetting to turn pump off, and or not turning the system on nd returning to fill up to find no water.

Thats the one i was talking about and looks very simple to set up.
You can however do the same job with basic components for less money .
depends on your outlook on things.

Did you only use ptfe tape on your booster pump joints Nick?
I found I was getting a few leaks on my pump joints so used some LSX leak sealer (silicone sealant) and seems to of sorted it.

Nick do you have a float that hangs in the tank, soon as the water hits it everything shuts down. 👳👳👳

Yeah Danny. The float activates a solenoid between the two pre filter housings that stops the water flow and the pressure switch senses the change in the water supply and cuts the electric.

Thats right Rob, The waste of the 1st RO supplying the second RO gives you a higher TDS reading resulting in more frequent resin changes

Mine is set up with the waste of the first supplying the second, like i said before the tds is between 2 and 4 after ro and about 275 before ro. Im not sure how you could expect it to be any lower than that.

Matt, That is a very low TDS reading, My RO is plumbed in like yours but with a TDS reading of around 013 TDS at best, I had a long conversation with June at GAPS who advised that 013-015 would be expected with a TDS in of 280
A couple of questions for you Matt -
What booster pump do you have?
Does your pump draw from a tank?
Membranes are you running?
what PSI does your system run at?
Do you have a softener?
My membranes have come to the end of there life, Im deciding whether to renew membranes or invest in a commercial system with waste recovery, The Nimbus RO's are highly spec'd

Just wondering what your tap tds comes out at to gets these results? Mines high 450-600
Need to get a good twin 4040 set up soon
