Depends on the reel but usually 19mm/21mm/25mm conduit clips.

i was using p clips but they kept breaking etc, ended up getting a pair of exhaust clamps off ebay and they are great, no movement after 2 months in use, where as the p clips would be bending etc.

I've got my hose reel fixed to a piece of aluminium chequer plate raised a couple of inches off the van floor.
I did originally use 22mm pipe fixings but they often broke.
So I tried doubled up cable ties (total=8) through drilled holes in the chequer plate and have had no problems since.

We use the pressure hose style reels which have a base plate so are bolted in.

When I had the petal style reel, they were mounted on a shelf  and I used u-brackets for securing tv Ariel's - cost less than a quid each and we're shaped perfectly over the reel base

Got them from the hardware shop

H20 are you not able to put a heater in your van overnight ? I ask because of your previous post about making your pump quick release on cold nights ( how did that go ? ) . I previously used a redashe style reel bolted down but because it would freeze up overnight even with the hose drained as best I could, I have changed to a lightweight plastic reel for the winter, it's still floor mounted but quick release with 4 plastic 22mm pipe clips ( the type with catches on that can unclip ) so it is lightweight and easy to remove and take indoors at night. ;)

Lighter pipe, take reel to job. Pipe remains stationary to ground so no wear and no snagging. Rewinding pipe when you walk back to van shouldn't be too much of a problem. Not an answer to your question but an idea for others to set up maybe.
