Title: MERLIN new membranes and pre filter SLOW production HELP
Post by: Simon@ Clearview contractors on November 13, 2013, 06:57:07 pm
Alright guys, I'm wondering if anyone has encountered problems when buying and fitting all new pre-filters and new membranes?

Basically, I've moved house in the last couple of weeks, only 1.5 miles away but the TDS has gone from 35 at the tap upto 169.  The merlin was running ok but nowhere netr as fast as what it was when I'd replaced them previously.
Now the system seems to have slowed down even more, there is only about 300lt in 9hours of running :o :o :o

Yesterday morning a hooked up an old RO system to the wase and this seemed to increase the speed of the water somewhat but today, very very slow :(

Its approx 40psi at the tap

Any advice would be greatfully recieved.

Thanks in advance, Simon :)

Could it be air, or the filters not purged properly?

So is this a pressure issue?  how much are booster pumps?

Thanks

Add a booster pump Simon if not got one already, it won't just speed up the water flow it will prolong the life of filters & resin

40 psi is quite low.
That's about the same water pressure that I have at the tap and I need to use a booster pump.

Thanks for the link Darran, what model number is yours as the prices vary a lot.

Also are these pumps suitable for outdoor use or do they have to be kept sheltered?

Thanks again, Simon

I've got the 112 which boosts my mains from 30 to 80

If you ring them they will advise on what you require, yes they are ip67 or whatever so outside is ok but not underwater!

Bear in mind if outside water may freeze inside the pumping chamber and be damaged if you turn it on
