I have had a CLX for around two years and it was ok. A bit flippy floppy but ok. I have had an Slx for about 2 weeks now. It makes the odd job a bit easier, but at full stretch awkward windows at an angle are still hard and some are even harder because the give in the Clx would flex and allow seemingly impossible windows reachable.
But.... the real difference is that at the end of the day I am no longer done in. No upper back ache and no feeling when I finish my last house that I just could not do one more. I am very pleased with it...

Gardiners clamps are better than bayersan, Brodex and Ionic.

Another person not liking the clamps , thought that was just me .
Anyway I've sorted the clamps , good for spinning sections but I still use the pole ok , just put up with them .
Today had to tighten them , then there'd open themselves up , do had to slacken them again .
Anyway I'm happy with them .
I wouldn't want to use any other pole than a slx or another type of full carbon fibre pole .
10x better than the clx

extreme poles are even better esp for awkward windows.just watch where your walking when poling and dont fall over any tables and chairs!! ::)roll ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
i use an extreme 25 for most work and an extreme 47 for higher work.they are an absolute joy to work with.i have a 22 slx and it feels like its made of lead now ive got used to the extremes! ;D

Are these the model 1 clamps that are hard work as i bought a clx22 6 months ago and its almost dead now...It'sthe first gardiners pole that I've bought, and I prefer it to any of the previous ones, Just wanna know if there's a way of prolonging the life of the pole without doing a full strip and wipedown at the end of each day.

Yes Simon go for them clamps I got
Them for my slx. Phone Gadiners office they will sort you out the clamps pretty cheap as well. Have you not watched the video as you need to so you can get the drift how to take your ones off and fit new ones. Your pole will last for many many years m8

Hi alex the clx I have has been a nice light pole but the problem is when you extend the sections its either to loose or to tight you cant unlock. I have had it about a year or so so I cant complain much. cheers alan

I think that you may have missed the email communication between J and myself on the subject :)
I emailed on you the 12th got a reply on the 13th which I replied to and J has replied again. The pole was bought in 2011 so is fairly old, but I'm sure that there are things that can be done to improve the operation of it. I am awaiting some photos to advise further.

I don't know what all this fuss is about with the Clamps. The ones on my CLX are just fine.. I fettled them until they were just right when i got the pole.. I had a section spin last week.... Shock horror I took 2 minutes to adjust all the clamps .... and off we go again... less moaning more working thats what I say... lol

I agree with that mostly. The thing that does annoy me though is when the glue goes on them. But my new one was glued by the patron saint of window cleaning so I am expecting them never to go. ;D

I also agree with Jim. I've been using SLX poles since their very first release (must be 5/ 6 years now?) and in all that time I've had two clamps come loose. Both were jammed back on with the tape method and have never come loose since- so I've never even re-glued them!! ;D
Was looking at a brand new, one day old Ionics Glyder yesterday & I can tell you, they're not a patch on Gardiners!! The end piece/brush thread had come unstuck & fallen out of the end of the pole after 2 hours of use!! It was heavier, less rigid & just overall a poorer pole than the SLX!!
The SLX is King of everyday poles!! ;)

There are some cheap 25ft refurbished Glyders on Ebay that I was thinking of trying.

going to buy a new pole soon but still unsure to buy another sox or try out a facelift pole.

Glyders are crap.
I've used all the Ionic stuff.
If you're going ionic, the swift or swift+ are the only poles to have.
My favourite pole used to be my 45ft Swift. Lovely bit of kit.

Dead pleased with my slx Cliff. I feel much fresher at the end of a day now.
