yep HM forces, fire brigade in fact all emergency services, they don't even need to comply with digital tachographs

not sure but I have heard anything carried out at sea on a boat is exempt from health and safety rules but don't quote me on this I was told by a customer whilst discussing H and S

Quite possibly, depending whereabouts they are in the ocean that could be the case.

HM Forces have to comply with all health and safety regulations 'in barracks' though. Out of barracks on exercise and operations is different, but even then, if something goes wrong like the two lads who died in the Brecons earlier this year, there will be inquiries and careers will stop if fault is found.

I should have elaborated a bit tosh, yes they are still responsible for H&S, and do have policies etc in place, but in many cases by law they are exempt, take driving for example, the forces have a drivers hours policy that roughly is the same as the civil regulations, but when you check civil regs, it simply states armed forces/ fire services etc exempt, there are other trades exempt as well, take HGV mechanics for example, do not require CPC training to drive HGV
there is other areas as well, transport of ammunition and explosives is one of the top of my head, they are totally exempt all Uk regulations, but in practise they are more rigorously enforced than any civilian company
