Title: hot outlet hose to reel
Post by: dazmond on November 07, 2013, 09:27:44 pm
as most of you guys know ive been having a few problems with my hot water set up. ::)roll ;D

im currently using boiler braided metal hose with a 3/4 metal screw thread to hot outlet(similar to washing machine connection but metal).ive got a brass reducing bush from screwfix so no plastic screwthreads at all now! :D

i have a rectus 26 connector on the other end that fits on to my reel.nice fit and no leaks but if i have any more problems with the fittings leaking from the hot outlet thread ill be looking for another hose/connections.

im thinking of black rubber radiator hose with a metal QR female hoselock to fit to the hot outlet and fitting rectus 26 to the other end going into my reel with a metal male hoselock screwed onto the hot outlet thread.im not sure that wouldnt leak as well under pressure and heat? ::)roll

can you buy radiator hose in 1/2 inch so the metal hoselocks fit?

if you could put up some pics of your connections and hose you use from hot outlet to reel id be grateful lads! ;D

this is the weak point in my system due to the pressure and heat!its the hot outlet connection that needs sorting.

cheers lads

yes i have 1/2" rad hose with metal hoselocks. i have female outdoor tap 3/4bsp screwed straight onto heater then use the female METAL hoselock but unscrew the bottom piece and discard then jubilee straight onto the barb...
NO LEAKS GUARANTEED!

I have 13mm radiator hose with yellow/metal hozelock connectors onto a Gardiners elbow. No problems.

You can also buy hoselock type connectors with a barbed tail so that you can jubilee clip your hose if you wanted.

CLEANCARE i dont follow mate! ???

the screw thread on the hot outlet is 1/2.thats why ive bought a brass bush reducer from screwfix(instead of the rubbish plastic jobbie that couldnt stand the heat and pressure!).once i screwed this on, it allowed me to screw the metal 3/4 thread thats fitted to one end of my metal braided boiler hose.im not convinced its not gonna leak despite putting loads of ptfe tape on the thread! ::)roll

so IF i buy a metal male hoselock(with 1/2 thread) this will screw directly onto the hot outlet thread doing away with the brass reducer then on the radiator hose have a gardiners QR heavy duty female connector to fit together.

Dunno, try it - might be a funny angle though.

Because my pump is after the heater I have got a brass elbow on my pump outlet and my reel. it's so long ago I put it together I can't remember what I've got without looking.

I decided to suck through the heater because I didn't like the idea of pumping the unit full of pressure. it means the pump has hot water but it's been ok for the last year or two.

ive just noticed you can buy a brass 1/2 thread male hoselock connector from gardiners.this could screw directly onto the hot outlet then female hoselock connector on radiator hose.do you think this would work?
