Ive got a carpet clean coming up and the lady has got a part wool part synthetic carpet in her living room that she wants me to clean. Now Ive upgraded my machine to a prochem with 150 psi and the heat n run water heater. Ive got various prochem chems to use but I just wanted to see how you guys would go about cleaning a carpet thats not 100% wool or synthetic. Im thinking of adding a bit of deodorizer to my mix but what mix would you suggest and with which chemicals, its a beige coloured carpet by the way and a foam backing
-
A foam backed carpet? And percentage wool?
Have you checked or is it customers say so?
Shaun
-
I had a quick look, will check properly when I go back, think its foam backed, customer said its a mix of wool and synthetic but didnt say what % of each, its an old carpet so maybe she doesnt remember exactly...
I can burn test some fibres but that wont tell me the % will it? just the type of each fibre :S
-
The chances of it being foamed backed and have wool content is slim to none, if in doubt treat as wool.
Shaun
-
ok mate thanks ;)
-
You say it's beige, have you got anything recommended for beige carpets?
-
Foam back carpets were discontinued longer ago than the backing would last anyway. I would suggest you attend some training courses before letting yourself loose on your customers property.

^^ Why would you advise anyone to clean their own carpets on your website?^^
Seems a strange thing to do.
-
Seems like a strange web site too.Is he going to drive that van off the edge of the cliff?
Also tells you how to start your own CC business.Very odd.

Sometimes what seems illogical is logical .
Anything on the blog can be searched and found in 2 seconds on google .
Results are what matters that blog ranks first page on google for my key words ,
And it's free .
Any off you could do it but you won't as it takes time , so you will pay some web designer then complain about them
It's the same with showing people how to clean there own carpets they won't and if they do they mess it up , just look how many times it's been shared .
Same with starting a cc business I know personally about 5 that have started and then jacked in .
It's called marketing

thanks for all the replies, even the unhelpful ones lol. dont worry its ok Ill suss it out anyway. seems maybe I didnt get my question across properly on here ::)roll ::)roll ::)roll :D

I think you missed the logic in getting articles ranked in google Neil..

carpet Dawg
Results are what matter and its working for me, I come up on the first page of google upto 6 times on certain key words
its all exposer
Its FREE

That's the strangest thing I have seen on a CC website. Instructions on how to clean their own carpets with a RD or Vax - surely it's turning potential clients away? Also giving advice on how to start up a CC business - it could be someone on the next street who may take his clients away too?
Would like to know the reasons, as I don't get it? Good luck to him though if it works!
-
I get the idea. A lot of internet marketing is based on the idea that they show you how to do something (showing your expertise) but human nature being what it is, you are too scared or bone idle to follow through on it yourself.
This logic only works here if you explain the pitfalls and what could go wrong (subtly) and all the benefits of getting a professional in. Doing it simply to get traffic is a bit faulty logic wise.

Carpet in main pic looks like it's been overwet.

Why waste time and money investing in training when you can simply visit this website?
Unbeleivable...
-
The bottom line should read..... When you have made a c++k up, ring us and we will try to sort it out.

I am surprised that you take that view “Unbelievable”
As on your own website you have done what i would like to do, and done it far better than i ever could ,
Many carpet cleaners could do with spending sometime watching them.
Each one give details of equipment used, solutions used and names, dwell time process extraction drying heat degrees used application etc .
Then a detailed video of how to clean your car, what is used, how to do it, what equipment to use.
I personally think your website and videos are great , but you really should think before you post remarks like unbelievable.

And if I get work of with that kind of advertising why wouldn't i.
It works when customers ring me they talk about booking times, as they have made their minds up and talk to me like they know me as they have invested time reading the articles, the average visitor reads at least 3.
its converting far better than a website most dont give enough information , and you all look at it from the point of view as a cc .

That,s exactly what is happening

here Neil, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xljVkJrC238
There's some more tips for you put on your site to stop your visitors from calling you.
That'll be £5 please.
-
Carpetdawg I'm going to do one to cover Edinburgh it's doing that well ;D
If u read it . It does say you should have them cleaned professionally between your own cleans .
Keep it real
-
Hi neil
What I find unbelievable is the amount of detail in the step by step guide on the website, the info I featured in my video tell the customer exactly what they need to know.
A carpet cleaning tutorial will not impress your customers but will be welcomed by all the newbie businesses starting up... why give these people a helping hand? The industry is over saturated as its so let's not help these people... if they are serious about what they do then they can pay for training....
-
Russ
They can search google , but start ups off eBay , buy Ebooks . They never stick it out and the end that's saturated isn't the customers you want .
It is the most viewed on that site and have considered hiding further in the blog . When I started it my plan was to start affiliate marketing on it selling machines Hoover etc .
If you think about it cleanitup is one big training program I started with this site and martin Riley took me out , nearly ever month someone on here offers to take someone out on the road with them the traffic for this site is thousands mine is 8 to 10 a day so I think your safe Russ

Back to the origonal question, wool mix on a foam backing,
it could be an old Ege carpet, for those old enough to remember them.
Thought Shaun would of remembered ;D

Ege Carpets. If I remember correctly they were (maybe still are) a Danish company. Most of their carpets were quite thick pile, plain colour with a thick beige or cream foam backing. I thought they were 100% nylon though.
I applied for a job with them as a salesman in Yorkshire, back when I must just of been out of short trousers and swirly patterned axminsters were all the rage. I remember them making a big thing about how all their carpets were plain.
-
Being in the carpet industry I do remember ege they are still around and have never produced foam backed carpets they were rubber backed and did not contravene any of the legislation made on the manufacture and selling of polyeurathane foam that was used in the uk industry. The Scandinavians have never understood the need for a separate underlay and still do nt.
How do you spell polyurethane
polyurethane anyway foam.
