Title: Vomit on Cotton Viscose Sofa.
Post by: pro-fresh on November 06, 2013, 04:59:06 pm
I was wondering how you experts would tackle this problem, I havent seen it yet but I presume it smells. My daughter was sick on my sofa recently and even after cleaning with Nemesis BioClean and then spraying a lot of
Nemesis Odour Neutraliser over the cushion and then going on holiday for a few days, it still smelt of vomit when I got back, not as bad but it was still there.
My sofa is made of polyester so I wasnt too bothered about leaving it wet but this sofa is 45% cotton, 25% viscose and 10% linen.
Dont you just love Habitat sofas!

Is it flat weave or pile fabric?

It's a woven fabric then (good news).

I guess you know the issues with Viscose (weak when wet etc)...
Subject to the usual pre-tests (shrink/bleed etc) this should HWE ok, especially if you've got a CFR or Sappire hand tool.

Suggested solution to use: M-Power. Then turbo dry.

...That should clean and de-odourise it.  If you're still left with a stain, use your stain removal kit - but test/test/test first.

Thanks Dave

Have you ever tried using m-power in the solution tank as a rinse as well?
I think the problem with sofas is getting to the odour that is in the filling of the cushions, so if you cant take the covers off then maybe a good rinse with m-power might help.

Kev.

I usually have a little solution left over in my sprayer, so I mist/over-spray after extraction, if needed.
