Does anyone else get unsolicited robot phone calls: calls with an automated message trying to sell you something?
As soon as I pick-up the automated voice I kill the call, but it keeps calling back (over a period of days) until I end up listening to the whole ***ing message, then select the appropriate F.O. option at the end.
How do you stop them?

I'd be wary about pressing any buttons/numbers you may be prompted to! You may be directed to a premium number.
-
That's a good point.
I shouldn't be getting any unsolicited calls as the phone's been registered with the Telephone Preference Service for 18 months.

The TPS are a joke, if only it worked!

David i use voipfone for my business telephone calls and have several geo-graphic numbers which are pointed at my mobile. I believe they offer a service to block certain calls, i don't use it myself as i don't get to many nuisance calls. Don't know who your provider is but see if they offer a similar service.

When they call don't hang up press 8 and they normally remove you from the list
-
How's that work?
-
Very seldome get these, but when we've had calls in the past, we ask them to call back in about an hour, and as soon as we hang up, we register the number to "block caller". I think you have a service similar in the UK.
In the past, I used to just leave the phone next to the charge station and ignore it for 20 minutes while they waffle away. That works too.

If you listen to robot calls to the end it gives you the option to be removed from the calling list if you hang up they just call back but does not all ways work

TPS is not applicable too businesses apparently, well that is what I was told by one caller, most hang up when you mention it

If your phone number is out in the public domain, ie on web site, posters, leaflets etc..
Then anyone can call you about anything regardless of whether you are registered with TPS.
TPS only works with private home numbers.(when it does work that is)..
