Title: Need a battery charger
Post by: Swcs on November 06, 2013, 11:47:39 am
So, I currently have a CTEK MXS5 battery charger.
I put my 220Ah leisure battery on charge every night with this charger, however I woke up this morning to a completely dead battery, the charger seems to have some broken leads so is not charging properly.

Can anyone recommend a good heavy duty battery charger as I need one for tomorrow ?

put a split relay charger in your van and charge it as you drive

I have a SWB Ford Connect, i've heard that the alternators on these models are not suitable for charging the leisure batteries. As it can run your main van battery flat.

I'd get another Ctek personally. they do have a 5 yr guarantee, so maybe your still covered?

If you fit a smart relay it will protect your starter battery from discharging .

There should be plenty of power available for keeping both batteries topped up .

Surely you dont need to charge a 220ah battery everyday?!?

Get a split mate, ive gotva transit and its fine.
Intelligent split charger relay, makes sure your van battery doesnt run flat (leisure battery charges off van battery, with the split monitoring the van battery to make sure it never runs flat)
